Since i had the K5, i was told this was the lens to get. This lens is great starting at wide open. Great colors, fast focus and quiet. It is just a quality lens made like a jewel. If you get this lens first, you may not use anything else.

i use this lens on a regular basis. i use 31 mm and 43 mm most of times. when i am serious about taking specific photos i always rely on these lenses. it is a very good lens. once i dropped my camera and 43 mm lens in the river. the camera was dead but not this lens. this convinced me that this lens is really well constructed. i dropped it on the floor or dirt several times. i never worried. i bought this lens again since i lost my first one.

This is a great little lens that started my addiction to Pentax FA & DA Limited lenses. Used with any Pentax DSLR, the field of view becomes equivalent to about 65mm lens on full frame format. The excellent imaging quality combined with this rather unique focal length makes it a great tool for Fine Art and Portrait photography. It's also versatile enough to be used as a general-purpose lens for photographers who are comfortable to see slightly 'long' rather than wide. There is something poetic about the image quality and field of view of a 65mm lens. Auto focus is very fast, even in dim light. The black FA Limited lenses that I own have a really exquisite finish and feel. The paint job looks more luxurious than the DA Limited lenses that I also own (15mm, 21mm and 35mm). All three FA Limited lenses are made in Japan. As an object by itself, it's truly a fine one. It even looks better in person than in the pictures. I left the screw-in lens hood permanently attached, and the lens still feel very compact. What I appreciate a lot is the fact that all Pentax FA & DA Limited lenses share the same 49mm lens thread. This way, I could save money by buying just one best polarizing filter (B+W Kaesemann) and share it when needed between my Limited lenses. It's worth the money, especially for this level of spec, image quality, compact size, build and finish. A rare lens which has an aristocratic character. Very highly recommended.

I shoot a lot of candid portraits of friends and family and I find this lens quite ideal for the task. A good medium between a 50mm and 30mm makes it quite the sweet spot for my style of shooting. So far the results have been great. Nice and sharp. Great bokeh. Excellent lighted build quality. Good to know they still build em like little tanks! The push on cap took a little bit of getting used to but it's not really a con. The velvet lining on the hood and cap are a bit of a lint attractor. Oh well it's an extremely minor con for me. Overall its an amazing little lens!

This joins my 31mm and 77mm beauties to complete my "three Amigos" FA collection. �First impressions are that it has the same pixie dust as the other two, delivering crisp, sharp and rich colored images from the moment you see them on the LCD screen. �Using it on my K1 brings back the feeling of those long gone film days when all I had was a M 50mm/LX combo, and loved it as much, if not more, than all the expensive gear I've had since then.

it's sharp, use with k-7 in low iso to produce high quality images!

Excellent little walkabout & travel prime. Very sharp, even at the corners, from f2.8 on the K-5. Colour saturation and contrast are top-notch.

I purchased this lens to go with my K7. It makes a wonderful combination that camera and lens. Compact yet very high quality. The build of the lens is great as others have commented on. Very tank like. The optics are great on this lens as well. I have noticed that wide open if you are too far away from your subject (haven't figured out how far is too far yet) than images can look a bit soft wide open. By f/4-5.6 images are very sharp. What I love most about this lens are two things: 1. Images have a 3-D feel to them. Subjects just pop off the screen. With a little bit of PP you will be VERY pleased with the results from this lens. 2. For me it is the perfect focal length (65mm equiv). It is a long normal and short tele. That is the perfect combination for street shooting, close-ups etc. I really can't say enough good things about this lens. You will not be disappointed if you buy it. There is a reason that on most of the Pentax forums this is always mentioned among peoples favorite lenses.
