A: I bought the Tascam DR060D MarkII and have been happy with it. I've never used a pre-amp or recorder so it was a bit of an uphill climb to learn a bit about audio production. Now that I've experimented with it for some time I'm quite comfortable with it. It eats up batteries so you definitely want to use rechargeable batteries. A: Not exactly. The cable attached to the mic is XLR and that is typically run into a separate recorder such as a Zoom H4n or similar. I think you could get an XLR to headphone jack adapter to plug into a DSLR if you can choose the mic input on your camera to accept audio. It's recommended to attach this mic to a separate audio recorder and sync the footage and audio in post. This is a very good mic.
