Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. GFCI?

A: No, the KP200 is not a GFCI outlet. Regards, TP-Link Support

Q: 2. Most outlets are in a circuit with several other outlets, meaning 6 wires connecting to the outlet. No picture of the back so does it support connecting 2 three-wire runs?

A: The Manufacturer's manual depicts there are three wires coming out of the back of the unit to depict Hot, Neutral and Ground.

Q: 3. Is there a model/will there be one with built-in USB ports, as well?

A: No plans at the moment; however the HS300 Smart WiFi Power Strip has 3 USB charging ports: https://www.kasasmart.com/us/products/smart-plugs/kasa-smart-wi-fi-power-strip-hs300 Regards, TP-Link Support

Q: 4. What color are these outlets? White or beige?

A: This would be white in color.

Q: 5. Does this require a neutral wire?

A: Yes it requires both a Hot and a Neutral.

Q: 6. Are there any issues with heavy, sustained loads on this outlet? Planning to charge an electric car @ 12A for 12-14 hours at a time.

A: The KP200 has the following load specifications: Input: 125V~, 60Hz, 15A Max Output: 15A maximum load in total Power Rating: 1875W MAX in total Regards, TP-Link Support

Q: 7. Do these outlets work outdoors?

A: These outlets were not designed for outdoor use.

Q: 8. You claim that it controls two items. can they be individually powered on and off?

A: Yes. Individual items plugged into this outlet may be independently controlled.

Q: 9. Does this transmit any information back to the manufacturer or any other party? I do want any device reporting information about me or my home.

A: This device works by registering every so often with the TP-Link KASA cloud server. The cloud server then responds through this registration path when the HS220 is commanded. Clearly your external IP address is made known, but, without an IP sniffer, it's hard to say what if any additional information is sent to the KASA cloud server. In my opinion, Z-Wave and Zigby hubs and products provide a little more security than WiFi based products like the HS220.

Q: 10. Does it have power monitoring like the HS110 plugs?

A: No this unit does not have power monitoring.
