The M2 Ultra is built from two M2 Max dies connected through UltraFusion, which is Apple's custom-built packaging technology. UltraFusion uses a silicon interposer that connects the dies with more than 10,000 signals, providing over 2.5 TB/s of low latency interprocessor bandwidth. UltraFusion's architecture enables the M2 Ultra to appear as a single chip to software. This means code doesn't need to be rewritten to utilize the extreme performance of the M2 Ultra.
The 24-Core CPU of the M2 Ultra consists of 16 next-gen performance cores and eight next-gen high-efficiency cores, delivering up to 20% faster performance than its predecessor, the M1 Ultra. Combined with a 60-core GPU and 192GB of unified RAM with 800 GB/s of unified memory bandwidth, this Mac Pro has the performance of not just one, but seven Afterburner cards built-in. It also features the industry-leading media engine, allowing playback of up to 22 streams of 8K ProRes video.
Combine Apple silicon performance with the versatility of PCI expansion. The Mac Pro features six PCIe Gen 4.0 slots, which provide twice the bandwidth for audio and video I/O, networking, and storage cards. There are two double-height PCIe Gen 4.0 x16 slots, two single-height PCIe 4.0 x8 slots, and two double-height PCIe 4.0 x 8 slots. There is also a half-length PCIe 3.0 x4 slot that is occupied by the Apple I/O card.
The Mac Pro offers a wide array of connectivity, starting with eight Thunderbolt 4 ports, which support up to 40 Gb/s data transfer rates and DisplayPort. There are also two HDMI ports that support high-bandwidth 48 Gb/s HDMI, enabling resolutions up to 8K and refresh rates up to 240 Hz. The two USB-A ports can handle legacy USB devices while the 3.5 mm audio jack provides headphone support. There are also wireless connectivity enhancements, such as Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5.3. You can also opt for a reliable, wired connection via the dual 10 Gigabit Ethernet LAN jacks.
The Mac Pro maintains its unique stainless steel space frame, removable aluminum housing, and advanced thermal system. The chassis is solid and stable. And thanks to the power efficiency of Apple silicon, the Mac Pro runs even cooler and quieter under heavy workloads.
Thousands of pro apps are optimized for Apple silicon. Because macOS was designed to scale with Apple silicon, the M2 Ultra brings a huge boost in app performance and capability to the Mac Pro. And there are thousands of apps optimized to unlock the full power of Apple silicon. From rendering effects to compositing 8K scenes to analyzing enormous data sets, your go-to apps run faster and smoother than ever.

The Mac Pro was designed with the environment in mind, including 100 percent recycled rare earth elements in all magnets, and 100 percent recycled gold plating and tin soldering in multiple printed circuit boards. The Mac Pro also uses far less energy than desktop computers in the same class, and over 40 percent less than the ENERGY STAR efficiency requirement. The Mac Pro is free of mercury, PVC, beryllium, and over 95 percent of the packaging is fiber based.
Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. is there any correlation between core speed and GHZ speed?
A: There's a correlation when comparing computer cores from a similar generation with a similar instruction set because a computer core that operates at a higher frequency, in GHz, can handle more operations per second. However, a higher frequency isn't the only aspect of a computer core's overall speed, and that correlation becomes loose when you compare processors from different generations or with different instruction sets. The Apple Mac mini (M2) has a CPU with four efficiency cores that operate at 2.4 GHz and four performance cores that operate at 3.5 GHz.
Q: 2. Could I use my iMac late 2014 27" as a monitor for the Mac Mini? What connectors would I need?
A: No, you can not use your Late 2014 iMac as a display for the Apple Mac mini (M2).
Q: 3. Can this mac mini run all the features in Adobe camera raw, particularly the masking functions?
A: While Adobe Photoshop may be able to be installed on this Apple Mac Mini (M2), the lack of resources like RAM and baseline M2 CPU may be underpowered, depending on what you wish to do in Photoshop.
Q: 4. May an Apple iPad Pro 11 inch 1st generation be used as a monitor for the M2 Mac Mini?
A: An iPad Pro cannot be used as the primary display for a Mac mini, but, through Sidecar, a feature built into iPadOS 13 and later, you can use an iPad Pro as a secondary monitor.
Q: 5. what operating system does this run?
A: The Apple Mac mini (M2) runs macOS.
Q: 6. Does this Mac APMACMINM210 load on Lightroom very quickly large Raw files 47MP camera?
A: Yes, the Apple Mac mini (M2), B&H # APMACMINM210, is capable of working with 47MP photos inside Lightroom quickly.
Q: 7. is there a optical output?
A: The Apple Mac mini (M2) BH #APMMM2256 does not have an optical output.
Q: 8. The most basic version of M2 can hold up to how many monitors?
A: The base M2 chip like the one used in the Apple Mac mini (M2) can support one external display natively, but when paired with a dock or hub that has DisplayLink support the M2 can output to two external monitors at one time.
Q: 9. Would this M2 with 24GB of ram be able to handle multiple layers of 4k slow motion video and a motion graphic package?
A: Yes, the Apple Mac mini (M2) with 24GB of RAM is capable of multi layer editing with 4K video, however, for large projects I would recommend editing with proxies or upgrading to the M2 Pro chip.
Q: 10. Will this output 4K 144Hz via Thunderbolt/Displayport or HDMI?
A: The Apple Mac mini (M2) BH #APMACMINM210 can do 144Hz over HDMI.
