Planetary filters come in different colors, and the Zhumell 1.25" Eyepiece and Filter Kit includes a nice selection so that you can bring out details on all of the observable planets in our Solar System. Each of these filters threads onto the barrel of your 1.25" eyepieces, or even your 2x Barlow lens.

Yellow filters help greatly in viewing Mars by bringing out the polar ice caps, enhancing blue clouds in the atmosphere, increasing contrast, and brightening desert regions. Yellow also enhances red and orange features on Jupiter and Saturn and darkens the blue festoons near Jupiter's equator.

An orange filter helps increase the contrast between light and dark areas, penetrates clouds, and assists in detecting dust storms on Mars. Orange also helps to bring out the Great Red Spot and sharpen the contrast on Jupiter.

Light red filters help to make Mercury and Venus stand out from the blue sky when viewed during the day. Used in large telescopes, light red sharpens boundaries and increases contrast on Mars, sharpens belt contrast on Jupiter, and brings out surface detail on Saturn. This filter is recommended for telescopes with apertures of at least 6" due to a hefty decrease in light transmission.

Light green enhances frost patches, surface fogs, and polar projections on Mars, the ring system on Saturn, and belts on Jupiter. It works as a great-general purpose filter when viewing the moon.

Light blue functions much the same as #80A Blue while maintaining overall image brightness. Light blue will also help to increase structure detail when looking at galaxies.

You can use it to cut glare when viewing the moon, but it will also tend to increase contrast when viewing many astronomical objects. If you have the type of telescope that works well for terrestrial use, the polarizing filter will cut glare over water or objects that glint in the sun.

The full moon is so bright, it can actually be unpleasant to look at through an unshielded eyepiece. This filter will decrease light transmission and cut glare while keeping the natural color of the moon intact.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. If I buy this from B&H is the Celestron warranty valid in Canada?

A: Yes this warranty is valid to U.S.A. and Canadian customers who have purchased this product from an authorized Celestron dealer in the U.S.A. or Canada.

Q: 2. Hi. Could I attach this to a Nikon D500? If so how can I do it? Thanks.

A: No, this cannot be attached to a DSLR

Q: 3. Can you plug a standard Edison plug into this?

A: I don't see anywhere to plug a standard 110 v plug into.

Q: 4. Some reviewers say, if you get this eyepiece with PF-65EDA, it doesn't fit into the provided case for the scope. Is that right?

A: The case included with the Pentax PF-65EDAII 65mm Spotting Scope was designed to be used with the open back or fully closed depending on the size of the eyepiece attach to the scope. You would not be able to fully closed the bag when attaching Pentax SMC 8-24mm Zoom Eyepiece. The lenght of the case on the outer curve is 16.5''. The case has 2 zippers, 1 will give you access to the tripod mount. The second one will allow access to mount your eyepiece.

Q: 5. Is the eye cup removable and is there thread under the eyecup?

A: No, the eye cup is not removable and there is no threads. Sincerely, Garrett at Celestron

Q: 6. Does this use an LED bulb?

A: The small light on top (with the red cap) is a small, relatively dim, incandescent bulb with a yellowish tint (unless you have the red cap on, which makes it red). The bottom larger light contains 30 white LEDs and is pretty bright. It doesn't compare to a nice CREE flashlight or anything, but the beam is bright and wide.

Q: 7. Does this eyepiece have a T-thread to allow it to be directly mounted to a T-ring ? Can the front part be screwed off ?

A: My particular unit is very tightly screwed on and I do not want to force the eyepiece apart. There appears enough room for the M42 x .75 mm thread. That being said, I would contact Celestron directly for the attachment method and tread size

Q: 8. Does the above Celestron Power Tank come with the cord I need to plug it into the power supply and my Meade Telescope? Or do I need something else to use this power supply? Celestron Power Tank (12-Volt, 7-Amp Power Supply, 110/220V)

A: The Celestron Power Tank comes with a 12 V D/C cord to power a Celestron telescope. That's all I can tell you - I know nothing about a Meade Telescope, or any other telescopes for that matter. Good Luck!

Q: 9. Hi, is the top of the eye cup moveable from the position show in the photos on this page? Does anyonme know what distance of eye relief is possible withis range? Thanks

A: Eye Relief 16.0 mm Retractable Twist-Up Eyecup

Q: 10. Can it fit on a celestron astromaster 114eq?

A: Yes this eyepiece can fit onto that scope since it takes a 1.25 Eyepiece opening.
