This black Ground Pod from LensCoat includes all the best features needed in a ground pod. It is made out of a lightweight, advanced plastic polymer specifically formulated for outdoor use. The pod can clip on to any pack, so it can easily be bought along on any photo opportunity, near or far. Q: 1. I see a lot of questions about fits for specific lenses. Is there a rule of thumb to use in determining what size pouch to order for a particular lens? Lens length?

A: Measure the physical length of your lens-- has worked for three different lenses!

A: Can easily attach a small carabiner then clip to bag etc

Q: 3. Is this the best size/fit for the Canon 24-105mm f/4?

A: I bought both the Small Wide and Medium Wide sizes. I carry a Tokina 12-24mm f4 in the Small Wide, but I often swap my Canon 24-105mm f4 into the Small Wide pouch while the 12-24mm f4 is in use in the field. The Canon 24-105mm f4 actually fits in the Small size just fine, but it's a tight squeeze and I can just barely fully cinch the drawstrings. If you like a snug fit, the Small Wide size will work just fine for the Canon 24-105mm f4. For a more ample fit, go with the Medium Wide.

Q: 4. Will this hold the NIKKOR 500mm f/5.6E PF ED VR?

A: Yes.

Q: 5. I know the product highlight states this is for up to a 600mm lens.......BUT, has anyone tried this product with the Canon 800?

A: I haven't tried the camera/lens combinationyiumention, but I can tell you it's fine with a Nikon D800 and 500mm lens.

Q: 6. Is this the right size for a Nikon d600 and a 70-200 2.8 nikon lens?

A: The Naturescapes SKM-II Skimmer Ground Pod II has a standard 3/8 mounting screw so the Manfrotto 128RC head will be compatible.

Q: 8. Will this snugly fit Canon 5D Mark III with 24-70 L lens?

A: Yes, the dimensions dictate it will fit nicely in this case.

Q: 9. So can one attach the wimberly tripod ball head directly to it or new accessory ?

A: You can attach any tripod head to it. I have my Wimberly Gimbal tripod head directly attached to it. Some of my friends have risers attached to raise the head up slightly more.

Q: 10. Interior size?

A: The actual pouch dimensions for the LensCoat LensPouch (2XLarge, Black) are 5.5"Ø X 12.5"L. Allow an extra .75"-1" length beyond the lens length for proper fit.

I've been looking for an easy way to stabilize when shooting at ground level for bird photography, this fits the bill. My Induro gimbal head fits perfectly and allows me the range of motion I need to capture the shot. Without the ground pod I had to resort to laying on the ground and trying to hold 9lbs of camera/lens steady while trying to focus on the subject. Best investment I have made in a long time, it has improved my bird images right from the first time I used it. 5

I have 2 friends who got this and there shots always looked amazing, so I decided to get one and now mine looks amazing also. The low angle shots makes the water look like clouds. I really like this very much and I always carry it with me now to use where ever I can. I tell all my friends about this and show them samples of my birds on my Ipod. I may be old and laying on my stomach is OK but getting up takes a little bit, bit the groundpod holds the camera and lens perfectly so I can leave it there until I bend down and pick it up. 5

Low ground angle birding shots and top of wall placement are a breeze now when I attach my jobu design gimbal head to it with my 600 4.0 IS. Very versatile and easy to carry around one handed with everything attached. 5

I use this with A Jobu Gimbal and Canon 500mm plus Canon 1D Mark III. Great for getting down to ground level where the animals are. 5

I occasionally shoot shorebirds where getting low is imperative. I've tried other methods but either had to struggle with the legs of my tripod and risk sand in the joints, or get sand all over my backpack, if I used it for support. This is strong, simple and easy to clean. 5
