Engineered to bridge the gap between their Advanced VX & heavy-duty CGX-L mounts, the Celestron CGEM II GoTo German Equatorial Mount delivers the performance required for capturing clear images during astrophotography sessions or resolving dim details when observing through an eyepiece. To make it compatible with a wide assortment of optical tube assemblies, Celestron outfitted the CGEM II with a dovetail saddle designed to accept the standard Vixen-style (Celestron's CG-5) and the larger Losmandy (Celestron CGE) dovetail bars.
Through the use of high-torque dual-axis low-cog DC servo motors, optical encoders on the motors, backlash compensation, and Permanent Periodic Error Correction (PPEC) the mount is capable of precise positioning and tracking accuracy to ensure your target object stays centered while constantly improving its performance the more you use it.
The brain of the system is the NexStar+ computer controller, which is equipped with a database of over 40,000 objects, including the planets, stars, nebulae, galaxies, and the complete Messier catalog; it can also be programmed with up 100 custom user-defined objects with filters to create custom object lists. Its intuitive menu-driven user interface makes observing the sky, day and night, fast and easy. Features such as guided tours, extended information on 200 popular objects, and multiple alignment options make the NexStar+ controller an invaluable tool to new users and experienced stargazers alike.

Q: 1. What is needed to mount a Sony a77 mark 2 DSLR camera to the celestron 6se tripod? Thanks!
A: The A77 Mark II is an A Mount Lens. Here is the Vello T Mount Lens to Sony A-Mount Camera Adapter, BH #VELASAT. https://bhpho.to/311LRJn
Q: 2. I have just taken delivery of this telescope. The 'Celestron' logo on the side of the fork mount arm (above the WIFI symbol indicator) does not light up under any circumstances. (The WIFI connection symbol light and tray accessory light work fine. ) On the regular 'Evolution' models (IE not this limited edition model) this 'Celestron' logo serves as a battery indicator light and power light. It pulses when the battery is charging and it is illuminated when the mount power is switched on. The regular 'Evolution' user manual refers to this light as the 'Celestron Power Logo'. To be clear - I am not talking about the WIFI symbol light, which is working fine. So my question is - does this Limited Edition model actually have a working 'Celestron Power Logo' light? The design of the Celestron logo on the fork arm on this limited Edition model is different from the regular Evolution models and I am wondering if it is actually meant to light up on my model?? Otherwise, how am I meant to be able to see if the battery is charging, etc??? (See "Appendix C: L.E.D. Status" of the regular Evolution manual where it confirms about the Power Logo lighting up during charging, etc) So, right now, I don't know if my Celestron Power Logo light is broken or if this precise model does not have one?? Please only respond if you are SURE of the answer to this question. I don't mean to sound rude, I just want to know if I have a defective mount or not :) I dont have a smart phone to check battery status, so it's very important for me to have a working battery status light. Celestron agree with me, because they designed the regular Evolution model with this light ;) Thanks for any help you can give me in solving this mystery.
A: Your mount is not defective. The plastic in the fork arm in front of the Power Logo is opaque on the Limited 60th Anniversary NexStar Evolution 8 #12098, so the battery light is not visible. Customers will need to download the SkyPortal App to see what the battery level on the mount is and verify that the battery is charging. We apologize for the confusion and will be making an official statement regarding this for our website shortly.
Q: 3. Can you do a 2 or 3 star align with a Starsense HC,or do you need standard HC?
A: You can do all of the standard Nexstar functions with the Starsense hand controller.
Q: 4. Is the mount compatible with NexStar SE mount?
A: The Celestron C8-A-XLT CGE 8" f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope (OTA Only) uses a larger CGE plate and will not fit in the smaller Vixen style plate that the Nexstar uses.
Q: 5. Does this scope have fastar capability? Thank you.
A: Yes. The Celestron C8-A-XLT CGE 8" f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope is Fastar compatible.
Q: 6. Can you move the mount manually to locate objects ( like you would use o adob) and will it still be tracking the object afterwards? thank you
A: Hi,I didnt try that way, But, after calibrating it will take you to the object you are looking for with good accuracy, but you will need to recenter a little bit; then it will track the object keeping it always in the center of the eyepiece.
Q: 7. What is the primary mirror wavefront error?
A: The Celestron C8-A-XLT CGE 8" f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope (OTA Only) has a 1/4 wavefront error.
Q: 8. Does the telescope come already in the Hard Case in this kit or do the come separately packed?
A: This question is a double of the prior question.
Q: 9. What is the package shipping weight and dimensions?
A: Unfortunately we are unable to provide the Shipping Dimensions, and Weight. My apologies. The dimensions of the scope packaged in the manufacturer's box is 43 X 28 X 15 (LXWXH).
Q: 10. What is the primary mirror wavefront error value?
A: The Celestron C8-A-XLT CGE 8" f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope (OTA Only) has a 1/4 wavefront error.
