The KM02 uses a VEML7700 ambient light, 16-bit, digital resolution sensor. The upgraded software ensures high accuracy, reliability, and combined with a 50mm lens view, a balance between average and selective metering.

The KM02's aperture, shutter speed, and ISO stops are all customizable to meet the needs of your different cameras and lenses. With full, half, and third stops, the KM02 is easy to operate and capable of more accurate readings. Settings can be saved for up to 3 cameras/lenses.

The maximum/minimum aperture and shutter speed value can be set according to your individual cameras and lenses. This prevents the meter from displaying unnecessary readings.

The exposure compensation feature allows you to manually adjust the exposure from -3EV to +3EV in 1/3 increments.

The KM02 comes with three different sizes of aluminum shoe mounts and has 5 different shoe mount positions. This level of versatility allows you to mount it with a bias to the right or the left. This enables the KM02 to be fitted on any camera with ease.

  • Continuous Metering Mode: Light-meter reading will update constantly with data refresh at every 0.6s
  • Single Metering Mode: Single click the metering button to take a new reading

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Thinking of getting a KEKS KM-Q for my Yashica Mat 124 TLR. Which one should give me ease of use, Back Display or Top Display?

A: The Keks KM-Q Light Meter with Back Display (Chrome) is best for the Yashica Mat 124 Twin-Lens Reflex.

Q: 2. Will the cine mode work with a super 8 camera?

A: Yes it will calculate the light according to the frame rate

Q: 3. In the overview it says, Not designed for photographic work . What in the wide world does that mean? It's a light meter...

A: This meter only measures the intensity of light, it does not provide any information that can be used to set the exposure on a camera (ISO, f/#, etc.).

Q: 4. This meter is used for both incident and reflected light metering purposes. I know that all handheld light meters measure incident light, but I don't understand why this meter is needed for reflected light measurements. The camera's built-in light meter is much quicker and easier to use for a reflected reading. What is the purpose of taking a reflected reading from a handheld light meter?

A: Light meters were designed long before there were meters in any cameras; since some people still like to use a hand-held meter, there was no reason to remove a capability that was already built in.

Q: 5. Does this meter tell you light temperature as well? i.e. 3200, 5600, etc

A: No, the Sekonic L-308X-U Flashmate Light Meter is not a color meter and does not measure the light Kelvin temperature output. If you are trying to measure color temperature, I would recommend the Sekonic C-700-U SpectroMaster Color Meter, B&H # SEC700U, the Kenko KCM-3100 Professional Color Temperature Meter, B&H # KECM3100, or the Illuminati Instrument Light and Color Meter, B&H # ILIM100, for your usage needs.

Q: 6. Can the f stop be changed to t? Thank you.

A: Light meters like the Keks KM02 OLED Light Meter will only list the aperture in F stops.

Q: 7. Can I set this meter that I want to use a shutter speed of 200th of a second? Or will it only go to the straight numbers like 125 and 250?

A: Yes, in custom settings.

Q: 8. What is the lowest ISO rating this can measure?

A: The lowest ISO the Keks KM02 OLED Light Meter can measure is six.

Q: 9. I keep getting the same aperture reading with different flash power settings. What could be causing this?

A: The flash power can be controlled in increments from the transmitter in manual mode as well.

Q: 10. Can this unit trigger (and meter) a Godox flash via a PC to 3.5mm adapter cable? If so, is there any advantage to this over using the 'meter flash' mode on the meter without connecting to flash via sync cable? Thank you.

A: If your Godox flash has a 3.5mm (1/8") miniphone sync terminal, then yes, you may use a PC-to-miniphone sync cable to connect the flash to the light meter, and pressing the TEST button on the meter will trigger the flash and measure its output. Do note that the flash must be in Manual mode and you must set the flash output manually, as it will not measure TTL automatic flash output. If measured from the same distance, you should get the same/similar reading to using the Cordless Flash Mode.

One of my best purchase ever, I have compared the metering results side by side with my fujifilm xt1, the results are spot on in various environments. It’s been sitting on top of my Canon FT for a few months without a single charge, the battery hold the charge very well.
The customer service are also very supportive, I can’t figure out how to change the ISO, they guided me step by step.
Very pleased with the purchase, highly recommend!

I have been using my mk1 EM01 for 3 years now and finally upgraded to the KM02.
The built quality of the KM02 is top notch, feels solid and unbreakable!
The battery last very long, I saw some comments complained about the battery life, I guess it might be they charged with the new type double USB C, which I made the same mistake before. After emailing them, they advised me to use the factory cable and now it holds the charge very long.
Overall, the experience is very good, the new model added many features (Some are very useful to me and some I never really needed) The new model feels more user friendly and easier to use.
I have also tested it side by side with my Leica Q and the metering results is perfect, the Keks meter is definitely something I will rely on rather than my phone app. Highly recommend!

Just recently received but find the meter to be very accurate. Very quick on start up ... low profile ... on a Leica gives a totally clear view of shutter speed dial and very easy to understand menu. I would highly recommend!

Takes a little to get used to the buttons but works extremely well for someone as new as me that got into film and was alittle hesitant and confused on what shutter speed to use in different lighting conditions.
