A: No I would not use it to carry a 14 laptop with my kit. There is a dedicated pocket designed to carry a 10 tablet with good protection. I tried a 13 laptop in my bag and it only just fits in the rear pocket but protection would not be great, it is a good bag but not really designed with 14 laptops in mind.

A: Yes, and yes. It's a bit of a hassle though if you convert between a camera bag and a normal backpack often. Reason is, you have to remove all of the lower compartment padding, which is attached via Velcro, then remove the divider in between the top and lower compartments and fold it in. Then once you're done and want to use it as a camera bag, you have to reinstall everything in the same configuration you had it in before to fit your body and lenses. If the bottom compartment was a pullout separated padded bag, it would have been way faster and more convenient.

A: I think it would be fine, even in heavy rain. It has a built in cover and the camera is accessed from the rear. It should stay well protected from even heavy rain. Now if you go swimming, you might have a problem. But rain shouldn't concern you if you put the cover on correctly.
