Part of the ULX-D wireless series, the Shure ULXD4Q-GV houses 4 independent digital receivers in a rugged, single-rack unit with an internal power supply. This GV version of the receiver features always-on AES-256 encryption and is designed for government and high-level executive applications where sensitive audio information may be transmitted. Two Ethernet ports support Dante digital audio, while RF cascade ports allow for antenna signal distribution to another receiver unit. Audio summing enables the receiver to function as a 4-channel mixer.

The ULX-D Series simplifies the set up and management of large numbers of wireless systems. It is ideal for professional sound reinforcement applications in large live venues and houses of worship, as well as A/V installations in conference, educational, and corporate facilities. Compatible with a wide selection of Shure transmitters and mic capsules, it delivers pristine 24-bit/48 kHz digital audio, capturing every detail with clarity, accurate low end, and crisp transient response.

The ULX-D operates in the UHF band, utilizing Digital Predictive Switching Diversity to protect the transmission from interference, delivering rock-solid RF signal stability without audio artifacts. In Standard mode, you can run up to 17 channels per 6 MHz TV channel, at a range up to 330'. Alternatively, the High-Density mode lets you run up to 47 channels per 6 MHz TV channel, at a maximum range of 98'. The system offers AES-256 encryption for security.

Each receiver module has its own audio and RF meters, 60 dB of gain control, and XLR output. A large LCD screen and intuitive controls let you quickly make adjustments, even in low-light situations. Additional features include automatic frequency scanning, IR sync, gain optimization to match any input source, and internal limiting to prevent clipping.

The Ethernet ports also allow multiple receivers to be easily networked together for simplified frequency coordination and deployment via Shure's Wireless Workbench software. In addition, the Channels Mobile App enables you to control the system remotely from an iOS device.

  • 24-bit/48 kHz digital audio delivers clear and accurate sound reproduction
  • Extended 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range with flat response
  • >120 dB wide dynamic range for excellent signal-to-noise performance
  • Up to 60 dB of independently adjustable gain for each channel
  • Works with a wide selection of Shure mics and transmitter types including the ULXD1 bodypack and ULXD2 handheld transmitters that provide complete mobility for presenters/performers, and the ULXD6 boundary and ULXD8 gooseneck base transmitters to accommodate meeting rooms with flexible seating layouts

  • 4-channel receiver operates in the J50A: 572 to 608 + 614 to 616 MHz UHF band
  • 44 MHz tuning range lets you run up to 60 channels at the same location in Standard mode or 90 channels in High-Density mode
  • Digital Predictive Switching Diversity uses a microprocessor to switch antennas before dropouts occur
  • Bodypack frequency diversity ensures uninterrupted audio for mission-critical applications using two discrete bodypacks on a single audio source
  • Always-on 256-bit AES encryption offers unbreachable privacy using a unique, randomized encryption key—ideal for sensitive government and business applications
  • Interference detection and alerts provide instant confirmation on both the receiver LCD and WWB software when interference is present
  • Adding UA874 active antennas or PA805 passive antennas increases the range of your system and offers increased protection against interference
  • The UA844+SWB antenna distribution system (available separately) lets you stretch the power of your antenna pairs, giving you more on-air channels in less setup time

Networked Control

  • Ethernet networking enables real-time, precision monitoring, and control of your system, as well as automatic frequency coordination across multiple receivers, using Wireless Workbench, SystemOn, and Axient Spectrum Manager software
  • Compatible with external controllers such as AMX and Creston

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. is any of the three available frequency bands less vulnerable to interference? I want to use them in a deposition setting that changes from day to day from high end conference rooms to witnesses homes.

A: I can't speak to the 3 different band versions, but I can say that each version has a wide array of sub-bands you can choose from. Further more, the receiver has a function where you can have it select the sub-band with the least amount of interference -- it scans every band and then sets itself to the cleanest one. You then just set the transmitter to match. It has worked very well for me.

Q: 2. Does this set work without a mixer?

A: The wireless mic system can be plugged directly into a powered speaker, via the MIC level XLR output or the LINE level 1/4-inch output.

Q: 3. How do I choose which frequency spectrum would be best for my application?

A: It depends.. if you are in a rural area it does not make much of a difference, however, if you are in an urban or suburban area you may want to consult the Shure Frequency Finder: https://www.shure.com/en-US/support/tools/frequency-finder

Q: 4. Shure BLX 1288/CVL-J10 is this rack mountabled??

A: No it isn't. I used a 1U rack shelf and used command strips to secure it.

Q: 5. Is the mic head of Shure BLX188 Wireless Cardioid Lavalier Mic adjustable to the position of the source of sound? Will the mic capture the sound when the speaker turns the head sideway?

A: The lapel microphones in the Shure BLX188/CVL Dual-Channel Wireless Cardioid Lavalier Microphone System feature a directional (although wide) cardioid pickup pattern. When clipped to the collar, they should capture the speaker's voice in most orientations when the lapel microphone is oriented in an upward position, although perhaps to a lesser effect if the speaker turns their head.

Q: 6. This says "antenna diversity" so how does that compare to true diversity?

A: The Shure BLX188/CVL Dual-Channel Wireless Cardioid Lavalier Microphone System only specifies "microprocessor-controlled internal antenna diversity" but does not get more specific on the type of diversity implemented. This article provides a good explanation of the differences in diversity types: https://bit.ly/3J80yOw

Q: 7. So, does the E6 come with the Shure BLX14 Bodypack Wireless System and Countryman E6 Headworn Microphone Kit at $549.00? It shows it does in the description...

A: This kit does include the Countryman E6 headworn mic.

Q: 8. Are you able to output the sound of both Lav packs through only 1 output of the receiver?

A: The Shure BLX188/CVL Dual-Channel Wireless Cardioid Lavalier Microphone System does not have a mix output for both mic channels.

Q: 9. does this system include a case for protection and transport?

A: No, it does not.

Q: 10. Does this thing allow multiple microphones on its one channel? If so, how many?

A: This reciever will only connect to one Shure BLX microphone or body pack in the same frequency bank at a time.
