The Frontier LRF is ergonomically constructed to fit comfortably in your hand with easy access to both of the control buttons. Standard mode measures the straight line distance to the target you are aiming at. It is measured to the nearest tenth of a yard/meter. If you press the POWER button while in Standard mode the rangefinder will continuously scan so you can move around and get constant updates of the distance.

Near mode measures the straight line distance by actively searching for a flag pole, or similar object, in the foreground. When Near mode is triggered the flag icon will have a circle around it.

Hunt mode measures the straight line distance to the target, but ignores any interference from long grass or brush that stands between you and the target, ideal for measuring the distance to a deer walking through long grass or woodlands.

Rain mode measures the straight line distance to the target, but ignores any interference from falling raindrops. The target distance must be more than 33 yards away.

HD mode measures the horizontal distance to the target. The straight line distance is shown on the upper distance readout and the HD component is shown on the lower distance readout. This is especially useful for measuring the bullet-compensated distance to a target. If shooting at high angles in the mountains, firing rifles that have fast-dropping bullet trajectories, or shooting a bow from a tree stand, HD mode gives a more realistic distance for use when calculating holdover aimpoints.

Angle mode measures the angle of projection. It is measured to the nearest tenth of a degree. The straight line distance is shown on the upper distance readout and the angle measurement is shown on the lower distance readout.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hi. Are these manufactured in China. If so, are there any decent binoculars (10 x 42) of any brand not made in China?

A: The country of origin for the Nikon 10x42 Monarch M7 Binoculars BH #NI10X42MM7B • MFR #16766 is China. All Steiner binoculars are made in Germany. All Swarovski binoculars are made in Austria. All Leica binoculars are made in Portugal.

Q: 2. are they good for a pilot in the cockpit?

A: I don't fly but have used these for nature viewing (birds, whale watching) and for hiking. The adapter for use with a tripod is great. They have excellent clarity and being waterproof is a plus. The price is right for this type of binocular.

Q: 3. Can it be used for Night vision

A: This model is designed for daytime, & low light use.

Q: 4. Do these have an image stabilizing feature?

A: The Nikon 10x42 Monarch HG Binoculars doe not have an image stabilizer. Nikon does not currently offer that feature in any of their binoculars.

Q: 5. Can it be used for photography?

A: It would be impractical to attach a point & shoot camera or a digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera to the binoculars. There are adapters available to attache smartphones. An example would be: Carson HookUpz 2.0 Universal Optics Adapter for Smartphones ( B&H # CAIS200 ) or the Novagrade Universal Standard Digiscoping Adapter for Smartphones (B&H# NOPA020001 )

Q: 6. Is there still a warranty when buying the used Nikon Monarch HG binoculars?

A: When one purchases the "used" Nikon 10x42 Monarch HG Binoculars, one will have a 90 day B&H Used warranty. The B&H warranty can be extended up to 3 years through the Allstate Warranty Extension.

Q: 7. Does it have a US warranty

A: Yes, the Zeiss10x42 Victory SF T* Binoculars does have a US warranty.

Q: 8. What happened to the Adventure Strap mentioned in the user manual we received with the binoculars (it says it should come attached)? I do see it's not listed in the "In the box" list on the website, and there's a cloth pouch instead. Just thinking this matter neads clarification for future buyers.

A: the strap is in the box: if you didn't receive it, please call customer service. In the Box: Leica 10x42 Trinovid HD Binocular Neoprene Carrying Strap One-Piece Ocular Rainguard 2 x Objective Lens Caps Brown Zippered Cloth Pouch Limited Lifetime Warranty

Q: 9. Are an Eyepiece Cap, Objective Lens Caps, Case, and Neck Strap (other than the free harness) included, as they are by Nikon?

A: The Nikon PROSTAFF P7 10x42 Binoculars come with, Neck Strap, Eyepiece Lens Cover, 2 x Objective Lens Covers and a Carrying Case.

Q: 10. What is internal focusing?

A: The internal focus mechanisms is the surest way of achieving and most importantly KEEPING the exact focus.

Nikon makes the best binoculars. The Monarch M7 has all the features that are needed for birding. All the feather detail is clearly visible. Very much worth the money.

These binoculars were wonderful on our African safari! I have used them for bird watching at home, and general usage in nature. They are sharp, easy to adjust, light weight and don't cost an arm and a leg.

I have used these for years for backyard birding. Took them on safari in Kenya, and they were wonderful for viewing. They are just the right weight and work very well for me. Left mine in Africa with our guide. Replaced as soon as we got home. Have since given two gifts to family members. I am a fan.

Only used them once so far, but the image is amazingly crisp, and focusing them is quite easy.
