Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Why is the blue aperture ring even necessary when you can adjust the aperture directly on the FD lens?
A: Some FD lenses do not have a manual aperture ring you can turn on the lens with your hand. For those lenses you would use the blue aperture ring in the adapter.
Q: 2. Can you actually remove the optical glass? How would you do it?
A: The 1.4x multi-coated focus correction lens on the FotodioX Pro Lens Mount Adapter for Canon FD Lens to Nikon F Mount Camera can be removed. This will allow the adapter to be used as an extension tube for macro shooting. The correction lens has a bayonet mount and can easily be removed from the adapter.
Q: 3. Does this adapter have any glass elements or does it act as a macro tube?
A: Since the FD mount had a mirror between the lens mount on the camera and the sensor, the adapter is essentially a macro tube with NO glass. Rhis makes up the mirrors spacing since oir newer camera are mirrorless. It works just as it would on your FD mount camera. You lose no light relative to an FD mount. Adding a priece of glass would only absorb light, and deflect it wider or narrower. Wider would essentially make it lose light and become a longer focal lengthed lens. While narrowing it would be nice to capture what a full frame sensor sees with more light. If you have a sony e mount camera with a full frame (FE mount) this will work as best as the lens can do. If you have a sony e mount crop sensor (just E mount) then you might look for an adapter with glass. Almost all FD lenses were made for full frame support.
Q: 4. Will this lens work on a Canon EF film body? I would be using an Eos 3.
A: I use the adapter on my Canon XS Rebel which is an EOS camera. The adapter allows me to use my FT lenses from my Canon FT days. It is NOT automatic however. You have to manually focus the camera and select the aperture . You then put the camera in Av mode sot that the lens will set the shutter speed. It doesn't make any difference what the camera says about the aperture since you will have set it on the actual lens you are using. Hope this helps.
Q: 5. Does the tripod plate come off?
A: yes, it does
Q: 6. Is the tripod mount removable?
A: The tripod mount is fixed to the adapter.
Q: 7. Does the tripod plate have a 1/4"-20 on the bottom?
A: Yes the tripod foot on FotodioX Canon FD Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Pro Lens Mount Adapter has a 1/4-20 thread compatible with most tripod release plates.
Q: 8. Does the adapter contain a lens?
A: It does not have any glass elements in it.
Q: 9. Does this work on a7s mark ii?
A: I have vizelex and screw m42 lens adapter and works very well, with this A series you don't have problems for focusing, cause have many helps ( peaking, zebra, assist focus in two ways or more ) great adapter, the right choose for the A 7 series
Q: 10. Does this product come in another color? The blue is awful. What was this company thinking...
A: Unfortunately FotodioX Canon FD Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Pro Lens Mount Adapter is not available in another color.
