The mic, offered here in a stylish red color, sounds great and couldn't be easier to use: all the controls you need to select audio modes, change volume, or begin capturing to the built-in recorder are on hand.

Connect to host devices over USB-C and monitor audio straight from the mic over headphones. Use built-in noise-reduction from a renowned Swedish company to suppress extraneous background noise. A built-in battery can give you up to 12 hours of continuous use. The integrated stand makes placement a cinch, and can be removed if need be.

This mic is perfect for recording directly to computers, be they mac or windows systems. With the right, separately available adapters, you can also record with Android and iOS devices.

Don't want to use a computer or a mobile device? Not a problem: the built-in recorder can hold up to 12 hours of wav files. This feature, combined with the rechargeable battery, allows for versatile and mobile operation.

The Tula features controls for headphone volume, pattern selection, instant mute, and microphone gain—putting you in charge of every level of the recording process. Also on hand are controls for the built-in recorder as well as a button for the built-in noise-reduction. Literally everything you need to control is intuitively built into the microphone itself, so you don't have to fiddle with any software operations.

Choose Cardioid if it's just you speaking in an untreated room: cardioid polar patterns are a great natural defense against picking up unwanted room tone. If you're recording more people, or want a more honest, true-to-life sound, choose the omnidirectional polar pattern, which picks up audio equally all around the capsule.

The mic has an integrated headphone jack with an independent gain control for latency-free monitoring. Simply plug your headphones into the mic's 3.5mm input, and you'll hear your broadcast-quality audio in all its glory.

The mic records audio at 16-bit / 48 kHz, giving you the broadcast standard for media playback. On the audio side, the two-capsule design ensures that whatever mode you choose, the mic will pick up a clear and present sound.

The Tula Mic can also be switched to 44.1 kHz for use with Akai MPC Series devices.

The Tula Mic is brought to you by the team behind the world-renowned Soyuz Microphones. Like Soyuz mics, the Tula features an open top end that's never harsh, a pleasant midrange, and a low end that's full without being boomy. Featuring Burr Brown op amps and dedicated cardioid and omni capsules, the Tula provides professional-quality audio in a wide variety of situations.

Just plug the Tula into your computer's USB port with the included USB cable, select it as a device in your recording software, and you're ready to get to work. Or, hit the Record button on the side of the mic, and start recording without an external device. The mic runs either off buss power or built-in battery power: the choice is yours.

The Tula ships with an integrated stand for easy placement, but you can remove it if need be and attach the mic to any threaded stand with the commensurate connections.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. The handle bottom is not threaded and so It's unclear how to mount this on to a boom pole??

A: There is a thread on the bottom of the shock mount that will mate with any standard bom pole threading.

Q: 2. this blimp has enough room inside for the ambient emesser 308?

A: As the Ambient Recording Emesser ATE308 Figure-8 Microphone is quite small in its form factor, the Rycote Windshield Kit for Sennheiser MKH 416 and Select Shotgun Microphones would provide more than enough room to house it within.

Q: 3. Does the Auray Professional Windshield for Shotgun Microphones (7") fit a sennheiser MKE 300 mic ?

A: The Auray Professional Windshield for Shotgun Microphones (7"), BH # AUWSS2018, is not compatible with the Sennheiser MKE300 microphone.

Q: 4. Is this compatible with Rycote Connbox 4 for Single Shank Stereo Microphones with 5-Pin XLR? (I have the AT BP4025 stereo mic)

A: No, the Rycote Nano Shield Windshield Kit is not compatible with Rycote connboxes.

Q: 5. Does it fit the Senheisser MKH 416?

A: Indeed! It does fit the Sennheisser MKH 416

Q: 6. Does the windjammer come with the old drawstring or the new elastic band?

A: In March 2020, it uses the new elastic band.

Q: 7. Does this fit the NTG-4?

A: Yes, the Auray WSS-2014 Professional Windshield for Shotgun Microphones does fit on the Rode NTG4 Shotgun Microphone.

Q: 8. Does it work with Rode ntg2?

A: For proper fitment to the Rode NTG-2 we recommend the WSS-2014

Q: 9. Any difference between this and the Rycote classic softie - other than price?

A: Not that I can see. I own both, and it appears to me that they are the same manufacturer with different labels.

Q: 10. It's compatible with ECM-XM1?

A: The Auray WSS-2012 Professional Windshield for Shotgun Microphones - 4.7" will fit on the Sony ECM-XM1 Shotgun Microphone, but since the WSS-2012 is 4.7" deep and the mic is only 6.5" long, the windshield may be a bit too long for the mic. As a better option, you can use the Rycote Standard Hole Classic Softie Wind-Screen - 3.9" Long, 0.7 to 0.8" Diameter Hole, Gray (B&H # RYS10M) or the RODE WS11 Windshield for VideoMic NTG Mic (B&H # ROWS11). The VideoMic NTG is about the same size as the ECM-XM1 so the windshield should provide a good fit.

Most of my shooting has been indoors so I didn't have a pressing need for a good windshield. Using the supplied windscreen with my Sony ECM-680S anything stronger than a slight breeze would result in horrible wind noise that even my iZotope Dialogue DeNoise plugin provided limited improvement. I was facing several outdoor shoots with some windy days ahead. I decided to risk the most affordable option, the Auray WSS-2018. Despite being buffeted by guests over 25mph the Auray almost completely eliminated the noise, both the low frequency rumble and the higher frequency noise as well. With that I highly recommend it even with moderately strong winds.

Works well. Decreases the wind noise well on Sennheiser MKE 600.

I've been shooting and producing training videos and mini-documentaries since 1983. My video world was severely rocked when, in 2005, I started producing aviation and military training videos that pretty much moved my video canvas outdoors... and into the wind and rain. I still haven't found any equipment that can make it stop raining, but I finally solved my wind problems... when I bought an Auray WSS-2012 windshield for the AT875R shotgun mic on my Sony PXW-X70 camcorder. I bought the windshield over 3 months ago, but I've withheld reviewing it until now because I wanted to be sure that the incredible results that I have been enjoying were for real... and that they would continue into the future. I'm currently in post on a 9-11 episode that includes many outdoor segments that were shot in 15+ mph winds and gusts. Although I fully expected to spend some time in Reaper tweaking the audio, it just wasn't necessary for most of the clips. It's almost as if someone had turned off the wind. Because the Auray WSS-2012 does such a great job at controlling wind noise, I am now no longer reluctant to take on projects with extensive outdoor segments. This means that I can now shoot more video and worry less about audio. I'm generally hard to please, but I'm now a very happy camper!
