Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with Windows 10?

A: Yes, the StarTech 7.1 USB Audio Adapter External Sound Card B&H # STICUSBAUD7D is compatible with:Windows 10 (32/64), 8/8.1 (32/64), 7 (32/64), Vista (32/64), XP (32/64), 2000Windows Server 2008 R2, 2003 (32/64)

Q: 2. Does this work with self-powered microphones? or only with cheaper plug-in power ones (like headset mics). I want to use it with a semi-pro Sony ECM-MS957 which has a stereo 1/8 plug (I can buy an adapter to split to two mono 1/8 plugs). Some interfaces have a capacitor or something inside that charges up and mutes the mic after a minute or so if it's not the plug-in-power type.

A: The StarTech USB Audio Adapter would be compatible with the Sony ECM-MS957 - Stereo Condenser Microphone.

Q: 3. Can this device be used to route S/PDIF input to USB output? (I.e. could you record audio on the PC using S/PDIF as the source).

A: I don't think so. The manual says: S/PDIF IN "Notes: The audio signal only passes through to the S/PDIF OUT. The S/PDIF IN port on the Audio Adapter supports two-channel audio, but does not support 5.1 or 7.1 audio." If the digital audio goes only from the optical in to the optical out, and that's pretty worthless and it won't convert to USB. (If the PC has optical in, you wouldn't even need this.)

Q: 4. Is your "StarTech ICUSBAUDIO7D" accept USB input? I want to use it for my laptop, to connect to a Z506 Logitech speakers (5.1)

A: No, the StarTech 7.1 USB Audio Adapter External Sound Card BH #STICUSBAUD7D only accepts speakers with 3.5mm or SPDIF connections.

Q: 5. does this adapter work for Android devices? (iPhone adapters, of various brands, don't pass audio to Androids at full volume)

A: The Satechi USB-C PD Audio Adapter is compatible with Android devices.

Q: 6. What is the power spec? Can it be used outside of the USA?

A: The system requirements as far as power goes is a USB port. So as long as you have a computer with a USB port and the right Windows or Mac system it should work.

Q: 7. Are ALL settings retained when power is turned OFF, then ON again?

A: The StarTech 7.1 USB Audio Adapter External Sound Card BH #STICUSBAUD7D settings are stored in the Windows sound settings. In normal operation the settings will be retained.

Q: 8. It says here that it works on Mac but in StarTech web page there are no drives or especification that it works with OSX.Do you think it will work on a Macbook Pro 2013 with OSX 10.10?

A: The answer to your question is a resounding yes. It is fully compatible w/ OSX, I have used it for some time on multiple versions of OSX. I can not however tell you definitively if OSX 10.10 will be an issue. But from my experience w/ this device I highly doubt there will be an issue.Runs great, the only issue I have w/ this device is optical input outputs, not inherently being routable. You may use a 3rd party software i.e. Audio Hijack to accomplish this. Hope this gives you peace of mind. I would highly recommend this device.

Q: 9. Will this work to connect the tentacle sync timecode generator to the DJI Osmo Action 4? The tentacle sync has a 3.5 mm jack.

A: The DJI Osmo Action USB-C to 3.5mm Audio Adapter will allow the Tentacle Timecode Generator to connect to the DJI Osmo Action 4 Camera.

Q: 10. Is the 3.5mm microphone jack stereo or mono? Thanks

A: The DJI Osmo Action USB-C to 3.5mm Audio Adapter will work with both stereo and mono 3.5mm TRS microphones.
