Hoya Hd Mkii Irnd Filter (55mm, 6-stop)

This 6-stop, 55mm HD MKII IRND Filter from Hoya features HOYA's exclusive ACCU-ND technology, which achieves equal reduction of the light in visible and IR spectrums. This added IR filtration eliminates issues with color shift in any shooting conditions, when compared to conventional ND filters.
Neutral density filters are important for filmmakers and photographers because they allow precise control over the amount of light passing through the lens. For filmmakers, this means shutter speeds that match camera frame-rate while maintaining creative depth-of-field control. Using a longer shutter speed makes it possible to increase motion blur to convey a sense of movement, or to dial in a video camera framerate. Increased density also makes it possible to shoot using wider lens apertures, helping to isolate a subject from the background.

The HD MK II IRND Series neutral density filters feature an anti-reflection multi-coating that reduces reflections caused by scattered light rays, which is an important concern during long exposures. In addition, a waterproof and oil repellent top-coat is applied for easy cleaning and maintenance.
The filter is mounted into a low-profile, lightweight, precision-milled aluminum frame. This frame design takes extra care to prevent light leaks and bleeding around the filter that may occur during long exposures. The slim filter frame can be used on most wide-angle lenses without vignetting. It features front filter threads for attaching additional filters or a protective lens cap.
If a single ND filter does not satisfy the requirement of the situation, or the photographer's vision, a combination of filters can be useful. For example: the combination of the HD MKII IRND 64 plus the HD MKII IRND 1000 will provide 16 stops of light reduction, enough to allow a camera to capture an image of the surface of the sun without overexposure.
