This 12mm NiSi True Color Variable ND Filter has a range of 1 to 5-stops. It darkens the entire image, allowing a cinematographer to shoot with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed. The degree of density is easily controlled by rotating the gear or combining a large lens motor to control the density. The aluminum and glass filter is 12mm thick and occupies two filter slots in a compatible 4 x 5.65" matte box or can be used without a matte box. It offers 1 to 5-stops of neutral-color light reduction and features NiSi's optical glass. The gear features stop marks to identify the density. The filter includes a 0.6" support rod to mount the lens motor and soft case.

Q: 1. I am extremely interested in this light but am curious as to what it's CRI is?

A: I haven't measured it, but at 5600K, it has a strong magenta cast. I wouldn't expect that it's any higher than 85. Color reproduction isn't this light's strong suit.

A: A full charge will yield about 90 minutes of run-time.

Q: 3. Does this unit have a battery level indicator? If so, how does it work/operate?

A: Yes, it would have a level indicator. You click a button at the back to view the battery level

Q: 4. Can I use this for catchlights when doing outdoor portraits with wide apertures that are too fast for standard flash sync speeds?

A: Yes you can use this light for that purpose.

Q: 5. Is this light suitable for still photography? Could it bounce light in smaller rooms?

A: It's bright enough to photograph in small room. But it depends on what f-stop and iso you use and if you need just complete existing light (as fill light it might works, but as the only source of light - I'm not sure)

Q: 6. Will this product works well on the Laowa 12mm with the magic shift converter for Sony? Will there be more vignetting than usual?

A: I don't have experience with this on the magic shift, It mounts on the front bayonet, The magic shift appears to be rear mounted. So--I don't think it will interfere, bit that is not definitive.

Q: 7. Will this work with Canon T2i SLR?

A: Yes - this light will slide right into the camera's hot shoe.

Q: 8. Does this light use battery power when it is off? I ask this because I have a similar light different company that if you left the battery in, it was dead in a day

Q: 10. .So I'm getting ready to purchase and narrowed it down to Bescor FP-312 and the Genaray 7100T...I heard from some that say the Genaray re The Tungsten setting will give you a pinkish orange hue, and the daylight setting a strong red pinkish hue. I know this was written 3 years ago, however, this concerns me. Anyone can verify that the color temp is accurate?...thank you

A: Recent (2017) reports suggest both of these lights do a good job for the price with no adverse color issues.
