Q: 1. 1- could you let me know the size of the filter I can put in front of the 95mm objective?
A: Hello Jeremiah - My apologies for the delay in responding - I did not get the notification. The 95mm Modular Objective can accept a 97mm filter size, which is a VERY uncommon size. Here is the bottom line, even if you were able to source out a 97mm filter, or use a 105mm filter and a step-down ring: there are no filters currently on the market that will not adversely affect the optical performance of the spotting scope. Thinking this through: a $400 filter used on a Canon 800mm f/5/6 lens is only having to work with a 16x lens magnification. It is a perfectly good optical system. That same filter quality attached to the 95mm scope now has to deliver top optical quality at 70x!!! If you want to use the filter as protection for the scope front element, you will be adversely affecting image quality by doing so. My tip - slide out the retractable sunshade when you are using the spotting scope in the field, and it will be less likely for you to scratch or damage the scope lens.
Q: 2. Reviewer Cynthia said "and you can't carry it attached to your tripod like you can with other scopes". Is this true? I need a scope that I can carry on the tripod constantly, and weight is not an issue. Would this scope qualify for that? Thanks for any info you can provide.
A: The scope weigh is 3 lbs. without the eyepiece. You can leave it attached to the tripod but I would not recommend it. Makes it difficult to carry.
Q: 3. Hello. Are these 7artisans Photoelectric Cine Lenses suitable for 8K recording or perhaps 6K recording on Fujifilm X-H2?
A: The 7artisans Photoelectric 50mm T1.05 Vision Cine Lens (X Mount, Feet/Meters) would support both 4k and 6k cameras.
Q: 4. Reviewer Cynthia said, "and you can't carry it attached to your tripod like you can with other scopes". Is this true? I need a scope I can carry on the tripod constantly, and weight is not an issue. Would this scope qualify? Thank you for any info you can provide.
A: You can carry it on a tripod. The scope weighs 3 lbs without the eyepiece. I would not suggest it because of it being more prone to being hit while carrying it.
Q: 5. How come the eyepieces magnification for 115 is the same as for 95?
A: The magnification is the same because magnification is not dependent on objective lens diameter. The 95mm is much less weight which comes into play for transporting then the 115mm is much bigger but brighter.
Q: 6. Why are detailed specifications not provided? Does this lens cover through NIR band (= 950nm)? Thanks. It would also be great to see distortion plots.
A: Unfortunately, we can only publish specs that the manufacturer has provided. For a more in-depth description of the product specs, we would recommend contacting the manufacturer directly... For your convenience, please follow this link: https://bit.ly/3lJQAaH
Q: 7. Is the 9 pin connector fixed or able to rotate when connect to the camera?
A: Yes. The following unit is fixed and cannot be rotated.
Q: 8. Does anyone know why the Balance Rail II is discontinued? How do we have a solid support on the scope when doing digiscoping with heavy DSLR?
A: Swarovski BR Balance Rail BH #SWBRU • MFR #49089 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1324217-REG/swarovski_49089_balance_rail_universal.html https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1324217-REG/swarovski_49089_balance_rail_universal.html There should not be any issue if you are using an appropriate 2 way pan/tilt head on your tripod
Q: 9. Which tripod head works with the 115mm scope?
A: A wide variety of tripod heads will work with the Swarovski ATX/STX/BTX 115mm Objective Lens Module. here are (2) suggestions: Gitzo 2-Way Fluid Head BH #GIGHF2W • MFR #GHF2W or the Swarovski CTH Compact Tripod Head BH #SWCTH • MFR #49078
Q: 10. Is this 115mm model compatible with the older DH101 head as direct mount? Thanks.
A: Yes, this this 115mm model is compatible with the older DH101 head as a direct mount.
