Q: 1. Can you choose which of the 16 audio channels on the SDI stream to de-embed?

A: When using the Blackmagic Design Teranex Mini SDI to Audio 12G Converter you may select any of the 8 channel pairs to extract.

Q: 2. How long does it take to record EDID? I only get double green flash, no rapid flashing as stated in directions, only two green flashes no matter what I do. I've done this for a few minutes and nothing happens. I m recording edid for my TV. Does it matter what HDMI jack it's put into?

A: A few seconds. The double flash is indicating EDID acquisition. Double check all of your connections.

Q: 3. can this unit circumvent dhcp ?

A: The Teranex is unable to record/capture HDMI copyright protected sources.

Q: 4. What is the ethernet port for on this unit?

A: It allows you to connect the Teranex Mini to a network. Connecting the Teranex Mini to a network will allow you to control the unit remotely from a computer.

Q: 5. Can this be used to automatically calibrate an LG consumer OLED display?

A: The Blackmagic Design Teranex Mini SDI to DisplayPort 8K HDR Converter does not have a HDMI connection. However, you can use HDMI to SDI converters. Q: 7. does this do 3d?

A: Yes it does! I am currently using it to do exactly what you're asking about. You just set up the HDMI Detective for the highest denominator configuration and it will pass 3D if you put it on the input to your splitter.

Q: 8. Can this be used to take a program feed and send it to a monitor?

A: Yes

Q: 9. What's the difference between the teranex mini and Blackmagic's other converters like the mini and micro converters?

A: These are more meant to be permantely installed in an IDF or rack instead of the micro converters which are more for behind monitors, on carts etc. They can also be remotely controlled via ethernet while the simple micro converters cannot.

Q: 10. We have a BMD VideoHub that we use to route feeds to a video wall. The video wall performs best and prefers 720p. We occasionally have speakers who want to connect to the videowall using a laptop. Can the Teranex Mini HDMI to Optical 12G down convert laptop feeds into 720 reliably? I see I can force 1080 or 4K, but can I force downconversion out of the unit so the the SDI or Fiber port out are sending 720?

A: No, the Teranex Mini does not down convert video signals.
