The Sonifex AVN-PA8D is a web-enabled mix engine that allows you to stream any of its 8 analog stereo line inputs or 16 digital AoIP (Audio over Internet Protocol) input channels to any of its 8 analog line outputs or 64 AoiP streaming channels, with the unit allowing you to alter the signal gain at the input, the mix point, or the output.  A high-pass filter can also be applied to all inputs and outputs. This version includes a color metering display and features D-sub connectors for the analog inputs and outputs.

The AVN-PA8D supports the RAVENNA and AES67 protocols, and AoIP input streams are discovered and output streams are advertised using Avahi/Bonjour and SAP, allowing the unit to support AES67-enabled Dante networks. The flexible design allows the portal to be used in a variety of applications, including generating stereo clean feeds, sending IFB streams to connected beltpacks, 8-output zone mixing, and distributing mixes to headphone monitoring stations.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can the usb support usb wireless mics?

A: Unfortunately this is not a supported function. If you were to plug a USB microphone directly into the USB port of the ZEDi-10FX, there would be no drivers available for either unit to function properly. Even though some USB devices can be plugged into some computers and function without any additional driver installations (typically computer's running macOS), the USB devices are still utilizing the computer's core audio drivers.

Q: 2. do I need a clamp or there is some 3/8 female thread on the middle of the frame?

A: There are 3/8 female thread on them. Id suggest ordering the Matthelini clamps and then attaching them to c stands. This is the route I went with and it works great.

Q: 3. Will it convert RCA input signal of an active subwoofer to balanced xlr inputs?

A: If you are referring to the line level pass-thru on a powered sub, or RCA line outs from a receiver or pre-amp to XLR ins on a sub, then yes. You do not want to run a powered signal through this device, just line-level.

Q: 4. Can the mix in the usb out of the ZEDi10 FX replace my iOS camera mic for live streaming? I have been using an Apple camera connector cable with no luck so far.

A: Yes, you can use the usb out for streaming. ZEDi can be used like an interface in DAWs as well recording individual channels. To my knowledge, OBS only supports a stereo sum of a usb audio signal. If that’s still the case, you could use a ZED10fx if your intent is only for streaming and not recording. The usb put on the ZED10fx sums to stereo over usb

Q: 5. Will this diffuse bright sunlight enough to soften out shadows nicely?

A: The 3/4 stop will soften the shadows however for more diffusion there is the one stop and 1 1/4 stop fabrics. Also, as others have stated, the larger sizes may provide more of the soft quality of light you are looking for.

Q: 6. Thinking of getting a KEKS KM-Q for my Yashica Mat 124 TLR. Which one should give me ease of use, Back Display or Top Display?

A: The Keks KM-Q Light Meter with Back Display (Chrome) is best for the Yashica Mat 124 Twin-Lens Reflex.

Q: 7. Which allen heath mixers of similar and also smaller size accept 100 to 240 volts?

A: The ZED 10 and the entire ZEDi series will accept 110 to 220 volts. You will need to change the shpe of the plug as it would come wth the US version.

Q: 8. Thanks for the review man, I have question about MIDI recording. So can I play my MIDI keyboard thru this mixer only, with no usage of audio interface and have low latency?

A: Unfortunately the ZED-10FX isn't capable of receiving or transmitting MIDI information.  The USB interface on the console can only be used to record or playback up to 4 channels of audio. If your keyboard does produce audio, then yes, you could use one of the stereo 1/4" inputs on the console to record that audio signal via USB.

Q: 9. Does this kit still come with the clamps to attach to a grip head?

A: No. All grip equipment is sold separately please review the following Impact Grip Head for Lights and Accessories - 2.5" Diameter (Chrome) BH #IMKCP200 • MFR #KCP-200 https://bhpho.to/3Di6SRr Impact 6" End Jaw Vise Grip BH #IMME106 • MFR #ME-106 https://bhpho.to/3iHwLkc

Q: 10. What is the weight for this 8x8 frame?

A: Don't have an exact weight, but the whole thing in the shipping box is 11lbs. subtract maybe 3lbs for cardboard, more or less, and best estimate is 8lbs.
