Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can it be used with Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS II lens? The overview of this product says it was developed for 300 f/2.8 and 400 f/2.8 lenses.

A: No, the Canon PL-C 52WII 52mm Drop-In Circular Polarizing Filter is not compatible with the Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS II USM lens. At this time, it is only compatible with the new Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM lens and the new Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM lens. If you need a drop-in filter for the Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS II USM lens, you would need to purchase the Canon 2585A001 52mm Circular Polarizing Filter (Rear Drop-in), B&H # CACPDI52. http://bhpho.to/1rkcHTN

Q: 2. Will this work in a Canon 300mm 2.8 IS first version?

A: For 300 f2.8 IS first version you will need Canon 2585A001 52mm Circular Polarizing Filter (Rear Drop-in) BH #CACPDI52 • MFR #2585A001

Q: 3. I have the Canon 300mm f2.8L IS II and the Canon 400mm f2.8L IS II lenses. Is this the correct drop-in polarizer for those *Version Two* lenses?

A: That is correct. The PL-C 52WII is the correct drop in filter for both the 300mm f/2.8 L II and the 400mm f/2.8 L Il.

Q: 4. Will this work with a lens having a 86mm front threads?

A: You would need to add the NiSi 86mm Adapter Ring for C4 Cinema Filter Holder and V5 or V6 Series 100mm Filter Holders, BH # NIPV5AD86 in your case. https://bhpho.to/3euMfYb

Q: 5. Do we have ND variable for drop in filter for 600mm lens

A: https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/763737-REG/Canon_4773B001_52mm_Drop_in_Gelatin_Filter.html target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/763737-REG/Canon_4773B001_52mm_Drop_in_Gelatin_Filter.html/a is what you are looking for... Pro: interchangeable 52mm filters. Con: Some people express concern about filter/screw threads contaminating the inner lens elements after prolonged use. I personally see little use (potential) for ND filters on my 600mm lens. I would compromise and set my ISO to 100 and a high aperture for longer exposures. Of course, if you want to shoot at a wide open aperture, then you must use your camera in lower light. The best light is closer to sunrise and sunset, so you should be OK in most circumstances. Good luck with your selection :o)

Q: 6. I have a Pentax 35mm, model # ZX-7. One of my lenses is inscribed with: SMCPentax-FA 1:3.5-5.6 28-80mm. The other lens, 1:4.5-5.6 80-320mm. Do you sell the Ultaviolet filters for these lenses?? If so, I am interested in knowing the price of them. Thank you. Rita

A: The Pentax 28-80mm and 80-320mm lenses both take filters with a thread size of 58mm. Check out the Hoya 58mm UV Haze NXT filter: http://bhpho.to/JIm3a2

Q: 7. does this fit canon 500 f4 first generation?

A: Hi, yes, this filter will fit the first generation 500mm f/4L lens.

Q: 8. Does this filter fit the Canon EF 600mm f/4 L IS II lens? Thanks.

A: Yes, it will fit and function just fine. This one is the older version designed originally to fit the Version I IS super-telephoto lenses, however, despite the fact that Canon has marketed a newer version II for the MkII lenses, this older MkI is completely compatible.

Q: 9. Can this filter be used with the Canon 500mm F4 IS II?

A: The Canon Drop-In Circular Polarizing Filter PL-C 52 (WIII) is compatible only with the RF400mm F2.8 L IS USM EF 400mm f/2.8L IS III USM EF 600mm f/4L IS III USM The Canon Drop-In Circular Polarizing Filter PL-C 52 (WII) is compatible with the 500mm f/4 lens.

Q: 10. How does this compare to normal polarizing filters like the Breakthrough or Hoya ones? Are you able to replace the filter with one of those into the holder?

A: This is not the same as the drop-in filter holder. You cannot change the filter. The polariser is permanently attached, and rotated by a wheel on the outside. Given that these are only added to Canon lenses above $5k, the optical properties of the filter should not be in question. They should be better than any third party offering, because they are designed for (and tested?) with this specific range of Canon lenses.

I shoot a lot of glass and product that shines. If I need that angle and have enought light then this turns down the glare at will. Be sure to get the right size.

I bought this filter on a 60mm macro for some fun shots in FL - shells and flowers and the like. Didn't want to spend a lot of money, so was a little worried about quality of polarization, but turns out it was a great purchase. Of course, mostly looking for that punch.. and it produced!

Crisp and clear. Solid, high-quality construction. I shoot mostly landscapes, but also some street scenes where I need to tune out window reflections. This filter does the job quite well. All-round great item for a very reasonable price.
