Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with the 400mm f/2.8L IS USM version I?

A: It should if the lens is taking the 52mm filter size

Q: 2. Does this (version I) filter fit Canon EF 200 F/2.0L....???Thanks in advance....

A: This fits the 200/2.0L and matches the colour. It also fits the 400/2.8L II, but the colour does not match. You can optionally buy the more expensive item of the matching colour for the newer big whites, but optically it makes no difference, as you provide the glass!

Q: 3. Does this come complete with the filter holder or do I need to buy a holder separately.

A: This drop-in circular polarizer will come with a filter holder. You do not need to buy another one, unless you have other 52mm filters that you would like to use, and would like to be able to switch them out as quickly as possible.

Q: 4. Can this filter be used with Canon RF 600mm F4?

A: Yes, the Canon Drop-In Circular Polarizing Filter PL-C 52 (WIII) is compatible with the Canon RF 600mm f/4.

Q: 5. Polarizer filters can vary quite much in quality. Does anyone know who makes the glass in the filter ? Is it Canon ? The convenience of being able to change the polarizing effect by turning a wheel is very nice as opposed to taking the filter out and rotating the metal ring on a metal and glass filter and then putting it back in the lens. That would be very tiring to try to get the polarizing effect you want. It looks to me that you can't change out the glass in the filter if you wanted to and that is the only point that I do not like about this filter.

A: This filter is made by Canon themselves for a variety of their fixed focal super telephoto lenses. The optical quality of this filter is every bit as good as the lenses it is designed for use in. Canon knows their customers and the types of shooters that buy these lenses and the quality they demand, and this filter adheres to their strict quality control and delivers what youd expect of it.

Q: 6. Does this work with the 200-400 F4.0 1.4X L extender zoom?

A: That lens requires the Canon PL-C 52WII 52mm Drop-In Circular Polarizing Filter.

Q: 7. Can this be used with the RF to EF drop in filter adapter?

A: No, you would need Canon Drop-In Circular Polarizing Filter A (https://bhpho.to/2QeQFnq) for that adapter.

Q: 8. Will this work with the Canon EOS R drop in EF filter adapter?

A: Sorry, no they are not meant to be interchanged.

Q: 9. I have the Canon 300mm f2.8L IS II and the Canon 400mm f2.8L IS II lenses. Is this the correct drop-in polarizer for those *Version Two* lenses?

A: That is correct. The PL-C 52WII is the correct drop in filter for both the 300mm f/2.8 L II and the 400mm f/2.8 L Il.

Q: 10. How does this compare to normal polarizing filters like the Breakthrough or Hoya ones? Are you able to replace the filter with one of those into the holder?

A: This is not the same as the drop-in filter holder. You cannot change the filter. The polariser is permanently attached, and rotated by a wheel on the outside. Given that these are only added to Canon lenses above $5k, the optical properties of the filter should not be in question. They should be better than any third party offering, because they are designed for (and tested?) with this specific range of Canon lenses.

Use on a Nikon 55-300 lens and it just as good as the Hoyas/BW/Heliopans. Don't waste your money on the expensive ones. This one even has a metal/aluminum threading so no cross threading at all.

The problem with using a point and shoot camera, especially an all-weather camera, is that polarizing filters are not usually available in size and mounts, leading to compromised outdoor action photos. I used this filter on a Nikon CoolPix AW110 on a canoe trip down the Suwannee River with great results. Kudos to Tiffen for making a filter in this size, and Nikon for making a mount (and B&H for selling it, of course).

This is an inexpensive circular polarizing filter that seems to be well constructed. It turns smoothly. A circular polarizer is definitely an item that every serious photographer should have in his/her gear bag.
