This 3-stop, 72mm HD MKII IRND Filter from Hoya features HOYA's exclusive ACCU-ND technology, which achieves equal reduction of the light in visible and IR spectrums. This added IR filtration eliminates issues with color shift in any shooting conditions, when compared to conventional ND filters.

Neutral density filters are important for filmmakers and photographers because they allow precise control over the amount of light passing through the lens. For filmmakers, this means shutter speeds that match camera frame-rate while maintaining creative depth-of-field control. Using a longer shutter speed makes it possible to increase motion blur to convey a sense of movement, or to dial in a video camera framerate. Increased density also makes it possible to shoot using wider lens apertures, helping to isolate a subject from the background.

The HD MK II IRND Series neutral density filters feature an anti-reflection multi-coating that reduces reflections caused by scattered light rays, which is an important concern during long exposures. In addition, a waterproof and oil repellent top-coat is applied for easy cleaning and maintenance.

The filter is mounted into a low-profile, lightweight, precision-milled aluminum frame. This frame design takes extra care to prevent light leaks and bleeding around the filter that may occur during long exposures. The slim filter frame can be used on most wide-angle lenses without vignetting. It features front filter threads for attaching additional filters or a protective lens cap.

If a single ND filter does not satisfy the requirement of the situation, or the photographer's vision, a combination of filters can be useful. For example: the combination of the HD MKII IRND 64 plus the HD MKII IRND 1000 will provide 16 stops of light reduction, enough to allow a camera to capture an image of the surface of the sun without overexposure.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this lens be compatible with the Sony DSR-PD150?

A: This has a 72mm filter thread, it will not work with the PD-150 which has a 58mm filter thread. Instead we suggest the Cavision .35x Wide Angle Fish Eye Adapter Lens, B&H # CADFA04X58, which has the proper 58mm connection. https://bhpho.to/2SIBPWk

Q: 2. Is the lens hood removeable ?

A: Yes it is and inside the box comes a screw driver to take out the tiny screws.

Q: 3. Will this work on canon xha1

A: It should screw directly on, be aware that the back end of the fisheye sticks out a bit past the thread so you may need a few spacers or 72mm filter so you dont scratch the camera lens.

Q: 4. Does this works in a Canon XHA1s?

A: The Opteka 72mm 0.3X HD Ultra Fisheye Lens Adapter will fit onto the Canon XH-A1s. There may be some abnormal distortion at the wider focal lengths.

Q: 5. Will this fit on a Panasonic X2000?

A: Yes, the Opteka 72mm 0.3X HD Ultra Fisheye Lens Adapter would work with the Panasonic X2000 Camcorder. However, a step ring BH #SESUR6272 is required to connect the adapter to the camcorder's 62mm filter threads. A better choice is listed below: Opteka 62mm 0.3X HD Ultra Fisheye Lens Adapter BH #OPTSC62FE https://bhpho.to/2Xh9dJP

Q: 6. Will this fit a hvx200 with step up rings ?

A: The Panasonic HVX 200 has a 82 mm filter diameter. This lens is for lenses 72mm and smaller.

Q: 7. Is it compatible with a vx2100

A: No. You would require the 58mm version of this adapter, as shown here https://bhpho.to/2IdFbBv

Q: 8. Does this work on a Sony hdr Ax2000?

A: The lens has a 72mm thread and so does the Opteka 72mm 0.3X HD Ultra Fisheye Lens Adapter and so it should work. Here is another more expensive solution. 16x9 169-HDSF45X-72 EXII Fisheye Converter Lens B&H # 169HDSF45X72

Q: 9. would this work on a Nikon Z6II?

A: The Opteka 72mm 0.3x HD Ultra Fisheye Lens Adapter is designed for video camcorders and would not work well with the Nikon Z6 II.

Q: 10. Is this compatible with Sony SAL-50F14Z Carl Zeiss Planar T 50mm F1.4 ZA on a Sony A77-ii? Looking for something to make the lens wide angle for as cheap as possible, don't care about image quality, just want to make sure auto focus and fitment will work.

A: Sorry. The Opteka 0.3X lenses are for Video camcorders only.
