Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Specifically for Rycote Mini Windjammer; Is this a full cover with foam substrate, or just the furry cover?

A: The Rycote Mini Windjammer is a fur cover only, designed to slip over a microphone's foam windshield.

Q: 2. Will these work with the LOM basicUcho mics? https://store.lom.audio/products/basicucho?variant=41645264011422

A: The Rycote InVision INV-6 Microphone Suspension for Short/Small Condenser Mics (4.7" Long, 0.7 to 0.9" Diameter), BH # RYINV6, is comprised of two InVision lyres with two clips that accommodate microphone bodies measuring 19 to 25mm in diameter and measure under 4.7" long, The LOM basicUcho microphone measures 80 (3.14 inches) x ⌀20.3 mm which would make it compatible with this Rycote microphone mount.

Q: 3. Does Rode make any mics that have a built in interface?

A: Rode does offer several USB mics but they do not have a stereo X/Y style USB mic. You can use the NT4 with a dual-input USB interface such as the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (B&H # FOSCARL2I23G) to connect it to a computer. The included Y-cable for the mic has two 3-pin XLR connectors that will connect to each channel on the interface. Please contact us by phone or through live chat if you have additional questions or would like further assistance.

Q: 4. Is there a mount for this microphone on a HVX-255?

A: Due to the weight and diameter of the Rode NT4 it is difficult to shock mount this mic on a camera. You are able however to adapt the incuded stand mount the RM3 to your cameras shoe with a simple adapter. The Tether Tools hot shoe adapter features a 3/8 male thread that will support the stand mount using the 3/8 thread adapter that was included with the stand mount.

Q: 5. How long is the 5-pin to 2 3-pin XLR stereo breakout cable that is included?

A: The Superlux S502MKII ORTF Stereo Condenser Microphone (BH # SU502MKII) includes an approximately 0.6 meter breakout cable assembly.

Q: 6. Hi, I was just wondering. Is it possible to connect Shure VP88 to Sony PCM-D100? And how? And is there any disadvantage in doing that? (recording quality, etc.) All the best, Emil

A: The Shure VP88 can be used with a portable recorder such as the D-100 when set to stereo mode and using the internal battery power. To connect to the 3.5mm input on the recorder would require the included Y cable and additional adapter cable. There would be no disadvantage, however the PCM-D100 is designed primarily for use with the internal mics, and a mic such as the Shure would benefit from a unit with XLR inputs and higher quality preamps.

Q: 7. I noted that this microphone has 5 pins but my audio recorders are both 3-pin (Marantz PMD661 and Zoom H6). Can I purchase an adapter cable? This may be dumb question. I'm new to this aspect of recording, and I can't seem to find a definitive answer on any website.

A: Three reasons I bought the NT4 is that it comes with a five pin adapter to two three pin plugs, also a five pin adapter to 3.5mm audio adapter and it can be run off an internal 9 volt battery. None of my digital recorders supply Phantom Power . The audio level at analog output is more than sufficient to connect to my Sony PCM-D50.

Q: 8. Everybody tells me that this mic is great for loud environments. I could use that. But what's the max SPL?

A: 148db with pad

Q: 9. I recently purchased the SONY PXW-X70 PROFESSIONAL XDCAM CAMCORDER. It comes with an XLR handle with microphone holder, but no mic. Is this the right one to pair with it? Are there other (better) options? I want to outfit the camera right. Thanks.

A: I purchased this microphone over a year ago for my PD150; and I've been very happy with it's performance and ease of use.

Q: 10. What is the distance between the two lyres? I've heard its 1 , but just wanted to confirm that before I buy one :)

A: Thank you very much for the quick responses :) I plan on using the INV6 with my Schoeps active bars! But I'm in the process of making my own PAS(Point At Stacks) active bars out of 20mm delrin and 3/8 stainless steel threaded rods as well, and just wanted to know the distance between the lyres so that I can make a super small PAS bar! I was going to make my smallest PAS bar about 1 1/4 long, so this will be perfect! And then I'm going to make a few at DINa/DIN/NOS spacing as well to use with my NBob SGC Clips(custom Schoeps SGC clips that are made from delrin and aluminum bases)! So this INV 6 will be absolutely perfect! So thanks again for the answers fellas ;)
