I had a polarizing filter that I just could not get off the lens regardless of how I gripped it. The wrench was the cure and proved just how badly the filter was stuck. It took a firm grip of the wrench not by the end, but around the circumference and finally it came loose. 5

I had been asking around for ways to get a stuck filter off and one of the options someone told me was to saw it off. that sounded terrible and Im not sure if he was joking but I googled it and there are numerous videos of people doing so, I guess they didnt know about these handy little dudes. 5

Filter wrenches are not exactly what I call glamorous gear but, hey when you need them they are an indispensable. handy little gadget to get the filters off your lens without spraining your fingers or ruining your filter. Inexpensive, portable to the point of forgettable, easy to stuff into the bottom of your bag until you need them and they work. It doesn't get any better than that. Saved a few of my filters that had step up rings jammed. I was looking at the prospect of repurchasing expensive filters, but for a few bucks I removed the step up rings and am now using all my NDs on my new lens. 5

When using cheap filters or stepup rings made in aluminum chances are that they get stuck on the lens. Few bucks for a simple piece of plastic can take anyone out of troubles. 5
