The ne4800MS from Ashly is a network-enabled DSP processor that offers easy setup and control using standard 10/100 Ethernet protocol and Protea ne software. The unit features four analog inputs and eight analog outputs, along with four microphone inputs with phantom power and eight channels of AES3 output, with the later filling two of the four option bays that provide expanded functionality.

The DSP signal processing library is extensive and utilizes multiple SHARC 32-bit processors with sample rates of either 48 or 96 kHz. Processing blocks include a 4 x 8 matrix mixer, a full array of graphic, parametric and all-pass equalization, crossover filters including 8th-order Butterworth, Bessel, Linkwitz-Riley and notched Linkwitz-Riley.

The Protea Software Suite also includes an automatic feedback suppressor, gain sharing automatic microphone mixing, ambient noise sensing and level adjustment, autolevelers, compressors, matrix duckers, limiters, frequency-keyed noise gates, signal delay up to 1365 ms on every channel and a choice of sinewave, pink or white noise generators.

All programming is accomplished using standard 10/100 Ethernet or RS-232 protocol and Protea ne software on a PC platform. Hot-plug software control allows for plugging any function into any channel block, even when running live audio with recompiling necessary. Automatic DHCP network IP configuration reduces network set up time. Multi-level software security with password access provides a tamper-proof audio system.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. This unit offers quarter inch balanced inputs. Is there a unit which offers XLR inputs? Output options are great. Input options are lacking.

A: There does not appear to be a unit similar to the Henry Engineering Patch Box II Analog Stereo Output Multiplier and Signal Converter with XLR inputs, however our selection of "press box" items features similar functionality with mostly XLR connectivity: https://bhpho.to/3DwDvLw

Q: 2. Is it better than the DBX drive rack?

A: Both the Ashly and DBX units are solid products and share many similar features. Your application would determine which product is correct for you. Please feel free to contact a Representative here at 800-606-6969 or email audio@a href= http://bandh.com target= _blank bandh.com/a for information and assistance.

Q: 3. Does the XL-AES allow the 833 to record more than 8 channels?

A: Yes, Now that the +4 plug-in has been released. If purchased, the XL-AES does add 8 balanced physical inputs to the original 6. +4 plug-in Brings the total isolated channels to 12, you now have the physical inputs to back it up.

Q: 4. What is the maximum delay on an output channel? The block diagram shows 21 ms but that seems like a typo.

A: In the manufacturer's specifications for the Ashly Protea 4.8SP - 4 Input, 8 Output Digital Speaker Processor, the user manual lists 1.46ms as the spec for propagation delay and 0 to 682ms as the spec for input and output delay. This information is shown on page 14: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/882193.pdf

Q: 5. what causes the beeping sound?

A: Without further detail it is hard to say for certain, but the beeping sound on the Ashly Protea 24.24M - Audio Matrix Processor with Tamper-Proof Operation and System Software for Windows is likely an indication of a process in function, an error, or another undetermined indication.

Q: 6. does the TBS-BB44 support AEC?

A: AEC is not a feature on this device. The software that controls it does, however, feature a graphic anti feedback EQ and a compressor and a limiter- According to this data page for it. https://www.atlasied.com/f/3219/ATS004436B%20TSD-BB%20Data%20Sheet.pdf

Q: 7. You say it puts two microphones into one mono channel. Does that mean on playback you only hear in in one channel or does it play in both?

A: It records both mics into one mono audio channel, but on playback you can hear it in both 'ears' - both left and right channels equally. It's really being recorded as Dual Mono , if that helps.

Q: 8. any video tutorial for this unit (other then thai ) ?

A: Unfortunately there seem to be no videos featuring this unit. For more information please contact a Sales Representative here at 800-606-6969 or contact Ashly at a href= http://ashly.com/contact target= _blank http://ashly.com/contact/a

Q: 9. Will a mono input be summed to both left and right outputs?

A: No, the Henry Engineering Patchbox II Analog Stereo Output Multiplier and Signal Converter provides stereo input and stereo output. The left and right inputs connect to the left and right outputs. If you have a mono audio source and connect to a single input on the Patchbox, it will be output for the corresponding outputs. For example, if you connect to a left input only, then the audio will be sent to all of the left outputs on the Patchbox. So if you need to have a dual mono output, then you can use any two left outputs from the Patchbox.

Q: 10. I have a Allen & Heath Zed 24 mixer. Where do I get the outputs to go into this patch box that are R&L on mixer?

A: Next to the Main Left and Right outputs on the Zed 24, there are secondary outputs that you can use to connect the Left & Right signals to the Henry Engineering Patch Box II.
