Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Do I need to pay a licence or another extra for bonding?

A: Yes, bonding is a technology built into LRT (LiveU Reliable Transport). You can purchase the bundle which includes the Solo Unit and one year of LRT from the B&H store or if you wish you can purchase the unit without LRT and purchase it month to month you register it on our portal.

Q: 2. Will it also convert between HDMI and SDI?

A: Yes, the Science Image NDI Mini HD Bidirectional 3G-SDI/HDMI Encoder/Decoder will support Bi-directional conversion between HDMI and SDI. https://www.science-image.com/product/ndi-hd-mini/?adlt=strict

Q: 3. Is it possible to use both the SDI and HDMI inputs on the LiveU Solo at the same time? (e.g. to stream two camera inputs at the same time)

A: Unfortunately it is not. You are able to use either HDMI or SDI, you cannot connect 2 cameras at the same time to a single transmitter.

Q: 4. Can I use the HPC-12 to combine in-ear monitor transmitters into one antenna?

A: So that we may best assist you, please email us at provideo@bhphoto.com.

Q: 5. which norm handles? pal-B/G pal-N or NTSC? thanks.

A: The Blonder Tongue CATV Channelized Audio/Video Modulator with SAW Filtering SAW is NTSC only.

Q: 6. I have a couple channels that should be HD but I am picking them up in SD. I am transmitting in HD but only SD will go out because that is what I am getting. The two I know of are ESPN and Fox Sports SW. Why am I receiving SD signal when it should be HD?

A: The product features 480i or 576i video resolutions, it does not go up to HD resolutions I'm afraid. ZeeVee does have other products that do go up to 1080 with their output, such as the ZvPro 820 Dual Channel HDMI Encoder.

Q: 7. Is there a way to take the hdmi out from my computer and send it down the cable in my home. It looks like the Blonder Tongue CATV Channelized Audio/Video Modulator with SAW Filtering (Channels 37-94, 100-135) will send the signal down the cable but how can I get the hdmi in?

A: HDMI won't go directly in; the modulator accepts standard video in. There are converters that will down sample and convert your hdmi to standard video.Note that the converter sends the video out through RCA connectors and the modulator accepts video in via f-type connectors. I used something like these (though they were in stock when I purchased them) -hth

Q: 8. Whats in the box? Does it come with the AC adaptor for non bundle package?

A: An AC power adapter is included in the box.

Q: 9. is there a passive return module for BIDA 550-50?

A: For passive return you would need to add a diplexer.

Q: 10. how do you adjust the amps so you get good signal, but produce less heat?

A: This unit does give you the ability to adjust the gain and slope to the proper settings for your situation. Blonder Tongue also sells optional plug-in fixed attenuator and equalizers for input signal conditioning, which you can purchase from them: http://bit.ly/1iV8xC4

This device worked right out of the box. We use it for live streaming public meetings and other news related events. Flawless! It works connected directly to our camera in the field, or to vMix software on our PC at the office.

Very easy set up and work as described.
I also discovered that it will work without subscribing to the LRT service but it only connects to a single carrier. The difference is night and day

The boot Up is about 4 minutes.
If you are not currently subscribing to the LRT services and then you suddenly subscribe to it it could take up to four hours for the system to catch up.

I’ve been streaming live events now for 2 years and this is just what I’ve looked for. I bought one and tested thoroughly with several configurations and they all worked flawlessly. I tried two cell connections via 2 Mofi 4500 modems with AT&T sim and T-Mobile sim. In one test I connected one Mofi via Ethernet connection and the other via WiFi. In the middle of streaming I physically unplugged the Ethernet cable leaving only the WiFi active. It continued streaming at 1080p with barely a hickup. I say “barely” because there was a very slight glitch in the video but other than that — flawless. Wow. I’m was impressed enough that I bought a 2nd LiveU for carrying on my hip and shooting with a single camera for run-and-gun. The cellular bonding technology is amazing and just what I’ve needed. I have not tried it in the field yet but am confident it will do the job for me.

Purchased the LiveU Solo to do portable livestreaming events. We have only used the ethernet connectivity so far and it has worked very well. The preview window on the unit is very handy at confirming the image and camera connection. LiveU online support is great and extremely helpful.

This has been solid so far. I wish they allowed you to save presets. For example, preset A = 1080p60 to Facebook , preset B = 720p to Twitch. So that things can be switched and set up quickly. Pairing the LiveU Solo with Restream is really powerful. The best way to do this is get data and bonding from LiveU. Buy the cellular modems from B&H.

Right away we discovered an issue with how we wanted to use the unit. Tech support with LiveU worked with us to solve the problem quickly and the unit is performing perfectly!

I works perfect.
The only thing i can complain is i wish they have an app for this encoder or may be i just don't know it. And the bonding LT service i feel like its too expensive.

This is a professional equipment to keep your connection stable during livestream! You can have two connections for redundancy to avoid loose of signal. 100% recommended.
