Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the RTN on this cable really mono? The Sound Devices 302 and 633 both expect stereo return.

A: The return on this cable is mono, using a balanced (stereo) 3.5mm connector which is compatible with the Sound Devices units.

Q: 2. - Can this be connected to A20 or A30 aviation headsets? - Would it provide power to the headset? - 5 pins or 6 pins?

A: The Sound Devices 5-Pin LEMO to USB-C Timecode Cable for A20-Mini is intended for use to send timecode to the Sound Devices A20-Mini Digital Wireless Bodypack Transmitter and Recorder (B&H # SOA20MINI). This cable will not work with aviation headsets.

Q: 3. Is there an extension cable available for this?

A: There is only a 50' time code cable.

Q: 4. Is there an adaptor to connect this cable to my Panasonic AG-DVC30 since I do not have a BNC connector?

A: My apologies I am not finding that the Panasonic AG-DVC30 has a timecode output connector for compatibility with this cable.

Q: 5. Does the bag detach from the vest?

A: Yes - the system is modular and the components detach from the vest.

Q: 6. Will it fit the mixpre 10-T?

Q: 7. Is there another version of this cable that has a true stereo RTN?

A: The RTN L+R pins are summed to a single pin as a limitation of the 8pins available in these NeutriCon connectors. To give the Timecode's ground isolation from the XLR audio (to avoid that pesky TC Bleed), they are out of pins. The cable itself has enough wires to accommodate a true stereo return... it crossed my mind to replace the connectors with XLR-10pin, but those are not as easily "breakaway-able". So either way, it's a trade-off.

Q: 8. Good morning, can it be used with the zoom f8n pro recorder?

A: Yes, the K-Tek Stingray KSTGSX Small-X Audio Bag for Sound Devices 833, 888, and 633 Recorders can also accommodate the size of and be used with the Zoom F8n Pro 8-Input / 10-Track Multitrack Field Recorder.

Q: 9. Would this work on Zoom f8n or even Mixpre-6II?

A: The Remote Audio ENG Breakaway Cable with Timecode for The Sound Devices 633 has a 5-pin LEMO connector for timecode to accommodate the 633, but the Zoom F8n uses BNC for timecode input/output and MixPre-6 II both uses 3.5mm for timecode.input/output. Other than that, the XLR and 3.5mm connectors on the Remote Audio cable are compatible with both recorders.

Q: 10. Will it work with Sound Devices 302 as well? I Know theres one Breakaway cable intended for FP33 and SD 302, but I would like to know if this one has same capabilities as the mentioned and also has timecode in it.

A: It will work as an audio output tethered to camera via XLR. But the timecode side of things will not be usable as the 302 does not have a timecode function. The return into the 302 should work, but I've never personally tested it.
