So I did not need the stereo to mono adapter. I did notice that when using the adapter the left earbud was lower in level. I think the adapter was working but was conflicting with the way Sony had wired the headphone jack.

Sometimes you need that odd little item that you never expected. I needed to convert my little headsets to mono, so I could listen to my old TV in my RV which had a mono headphone jack. There you have it. This was exactly what I needed. It was shipped in a timely fashion and it works great. 5

Worked great! I couldn't even find it on Amazon. I used it on a Playstation PS4. I got a "Audio Decoder 5.1 Channel AC3 DTS Decoder" to convert from the digital optical from PS4 to separate Center, Front and Rear outputs. I used this device to put the center 1-channel onto both Left and Right 2-channel. 5

Arrived in a Monoprice labeled bag. Works as advertised. I use it on a Zoom H4n Pro to get output in both ears when using only one mic on a single channel. I believe you can link the channels in the H4n menu and achieve the same effect, but I had read that this can introduce extra noise into the recorded signal oddly enough. The H4n Pro needs as much help as it can get (its pre-amps are generally noisy), so this was one of a few measures to avoid making anything potentially worse. 5

I have a portable ham radio that produces mono output. When I have stereo headphones plugged in directly, I only get sound in the left ear. When I have the mono-to-stereo adapter plugged into the radio and the headphones plugged into the adapter, I get sound in both ears, which is exactly what I wanted. 5
