This sounds like it was designed for something different than that, but does anyone know if this would work while I'm carrying that gear on my shoulder with two legs of the tripod pressing down, not quite balanced on my shoulder with about 15 lbs. of total weight?

A: My camera rig is close to 12-15 lbs and it feels fine for me. I doubt you will feel the legs digging into your shoulder, the foam is rather thick. Youll of course still feel the weight of 15lbs. But you shouldnt feel the legs digging into your shoulder since the foam will absorb this.
