Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there a voltage regulator inside or does ist pass through voltage/current from the 7,2v l-mount battery?

A: Voltage regulation not needed with Sony l type batteries it’s designed for those

Q: 2. Does this bag fits the MixPre 6 II?

A: Yes the Strut STR-MP6 Custom-Fit Field Case for Sound Devices MixPre-6 is compatible with the MixPre-6-II

Q: 3. How much does it weigh?

A: The manufacturer has not provided the weight of the Strut STR-MP6 Custom-Fit Field Case by itself. The shipping weight (including the packaged case is listed as 0.75 lbs., which is 12 oz. (340.2 g).

Q: 4. It states this can accommodate L series sled option. Will it actually fit with 1 or t2 np batteries in sled while using the Mixpre-6?

A: Yes it does. I just picked up the L-series sled and two Watson NP-F770 batteries (4400mHa) and have them installed on the Mixpre-6 in the Strut case. It's hard to tell from the picture, but there is a slot in the bottom of the case through which the sled protrudes, allowing you to install / swap batteries, and two velcro flaps that wrap around the whole assembly. The flaps are long enough that they would easily wrap around two of the biggest L-series batteries (7800 mHa). The batteries recess quite a bit into the sled, so they don't stick out as much as I expected . . . and actually allow you to stand the mixer up on a flat surface which is a nice happy accident.

Q: 5. If you use rechargeable batteries in this, can they be charged overnight by connecting the MixPre3 to a USB port?

A: No you can power the recorder via USB while recording or via the rechargeable AA batteries, however they need to be charged with their own charger outside the recorder.

Q: 6. I'm trying to use this MX-LMount battery sled on the MixPre-10 II and getting flashing red ring LEDs on all tracks when powering it on, with either a pair of fully charged genuine Sony NP-F970 batteries attached, or a pair of fully charged genuine Sony NP-F570 batteries attached. MixPre-10 II already has L-Mount selected as battery type in the MixPre-10 II's power menu. No other batteries/power sources are connected. I'm using an approved SD card that has been formatted in the MixPre-10 II. Any idea what could be causing this issue?

A: We're glad you were able to resolve the issue.

Q: 7. Have anyone tried to fit a 702 in this bag ?

A: The Strut STR-MP6 is a custom-fit field case for the Sound Devices MixPre-6 and the dimensions of the MixPre-6 are 1.4 x 6.5 x 4.6" (36 x 166 x 118 mm). The dimensions of the Sound Devices 702 are 1.8 x 8.2 x 4.9” (45 x 209 x 125 mm) which is larger than the MixPre-6 on all sides, especially for the length across which is 1.7" longer. The 702 is not going to fit inside the STR-MP6 case. We do have other cases that will fit the 702, like the PortaBrace Audio Recorder Case for Sound Devices 702, 722, and 744 (B&H # POAR7B) and PortaBrace Audio Organizer Case (B&H # POAO15XB).

Q: 8. Are we able to use 8 iPower rechargeable lipo batteries with this sled?

A: It is not recommended to use rechargeable lithium batteries with a Mixpre series recorder. Sound Device does recommend using 1.5v non-rechargeable lithium batteries, or higher powered NiMH batteries such as B&H # PAKJ17KHCA4A.

Q: 9. What L Batteries are compatible? Some are ripped apart by the oversized pins.

A: I didn't want to mess around and went with the Sony NP-F970 battery (even though it is not the cheapest option) with this adapter. It has worked flawlessly without any issues. Two years on the road and we haven't had any issues with power using that battery.

Q: 10. The title said for mixpre-6 but the bottom option said for mixpre-3. So which is the right one?

A: B&H # STRMP6 is the correct catalog code for the Strut STR-MP6 Custom-Fit Field Case for Sound Devices MixPre-6.
