Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this model have head locking screws?

A: The screw base of this monopod does have set screws on the bottom of it.

Q: 2. can I buy a short center column for this tripod?

A: The Benro ASC2 short center column will work for the TAD28A. Click the link below to view; https://bhpho.to/2BioXmY

Q: 3. Is it easy to erase? I’ve encountered many slates that get smudged when I erase markings off them and the printed text gets rubbed off easily.

A: This slate wipes clean and easily when used with the recommennded dry-erase markers.

Q: 4. are the clamps metal or plastic?

A: The levers are plastic but the piece on the leg that does the clamping is die cast magnesium. It might look and feel like plastic but it is not. I have had the legs apart and can confirm this.

Q: 5. The pivot foot is too stiff and makes panning difficult. In soft ground the whole foot grabs the dirt. Any replacement ideas without buying 3 feet?

A: Really the best solution is the Benro 3-Leg Locking Base For Monopods linked here. https://bhpho.to/3fC8c6s. This will grip the ground and then allow for smooth panning. Any solution without 3 feet on the bottom will not have the same panning action.

Q: 6. Do the legs grip well enough to hold 8 lb slider with a 7-9 lb rig? Is the leg tension adjustable/can it be tightened?

A: Clamp tension is easily adjustable with the included tool. I would feel confident putting that much weight on this tripod. Some clamps on mine were set a bit looser than I'd prefer but that was not a problem to correct.

Q: 7. Does the this monopod have a removable foot revealing a thread at the bottom? I've seen mixed answers on this with someone claiming the aluminum version does not but another stated the carbon fiber version does. I'd be using this to affix the monopod to the top of a sturdy lightstand for more height. I understand the risks involved and would be standing beneath the unit supporting it at all times. Thanks

A: I have the aluminum version of this tripod. It appears that the ball joint and foot are connected to the bottom of the tripod via a threaded shaft. It takes a wrench to get it off, though, and I have not tried this.

Q: 8. What is the diameter of the base plate?

A: A little under 3", about 2 7/8"

Q: 9. How accurate is the load capacity? Looking to use this with a Pentax 6x7

A: The weight capacity on the TAD18A is very accurate, as it definitely hold a Pentax 67. However, this tripod still requires a head such as the Benro B3 Triple Action Ball Head, BH # BEB3 https://bhpho.to/2XnTeuA

Q: 10. has any one been able to get it packed in carry-on luggage?

A: Yes it will fit in my carry on bag,it is 21 and 1 half in. With foot on
