The mount attaches to the top of the right Ultra Side Handle or Ultra Handle Extension using a 3/8"-16 screw. It provides a shoe mount on top of the handle for adding an accessory. A: 1) As useful as you might need them. You can't expect to use them for many things at the same your trying to carry your camera, but they do come handy when you have your camera on tripod only shoots, like interviews, and you the need to add some small accessories.2) If I had to chose one word for this item: High Quality (thats two). Aside from the wooden label, everything is hard, solid steel. Quality is on par with Zacuto.3) No. I bought Zacuto's 3 rail and they both paired very nicely.4) Very comfortable. Will fit for almost any type of camera handling you might need. I use it for my GH4 rig (7 monitor, cage, dslr baseplate, rods and EF glass) and can't be happy enough.
