Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What kind of wheels will go on this tripod?

A: None that I know of. You would have to first purchase some kind of replacement feet. Three of my four tripods have feet made to clip into a set of wheels with detachable foot pads but this one does not. This tripod isn't very sturdy either and the head has a lot of spring back. I also own its big brother with the FSB4 head and composite legs. There is a day and night difference between the two but also more than double the price.

Q: 2. Can the leg-angle be locked without the spreader? Most other brands have three angle positions for legs. I can't find a way to lock the angle without the spreader.

A: I am afraid not: The spreader clamps must be used to lock the leg positions.

Q: 3. Can this tripod handle a RED Epic Dragon M 6k with a Schneider Xenon FF 50mm Lense?

A: Assuming you don't load anything above and beyond the necessary minimum to operate your RED Epic Dragon M (other than the lens specified in your question) then the answer is YES.

Q: 4. Does this tripod work with the Nikon D5500? Do I need any other accessories to make it work?

A: You will need the appropriate Nikon quick release camera plate that will slide into the tripod and lock in place.

Q: 5. How tall is it and how does it weigh?

A: Sorry, but this tripod and battery selection is no longer available. The tripod and head are still available. See below. The maximum height is 62.2 (158cm). The combined weigh 10.6 lbs (4.8kg).

Q: 6. What is the length of the legs folded with the head removed?

A: 28 inches

Q: 7. Why is it $17,766.00?

A: Top level gear such as OConnor is used on productions where each hour is costing thousands of dollars. In such a situation, you as a cinematographer want only the finest equipment available. As a user of OConnor heads for years on multi million dollar feature sets, I can attest that when the shot and your job rests on everything working perfectly, you do not want to have gear that is anything less than the best. OConnor answers those needs; it works every time all the time. All this quality and ruggedness costs. More affordable gear will do a fine job for most consumer and light use professional productions. However, that level gear cannot hold up under super demanding situations.

Q: 8. Is the any differences on the black edition besides color?

A: The features are the same with the Sachtler Ace M models. Only the silver color for some of the head controls are now black.

Q: 9. can you put Sachler rubber feet on this tripod?

A: no, the tripod comes with retractable spikes and the connection is different from other Sachtler tripods

Q: 10. Does this tripod include a carrying case/bag?

A: Yes, the Sachtler Ace M System Black Edition with Tripod & Mid-Level Spreader includes a carry bag with the kit.
