To power your NEON monitor on location from a battery rather than from mains power, use this AtomX Core Power Box with 6.6' XLR Cable from Atomos. Developed with Core SWX, this durable aluminum power box provides stable operation for the power-hungry NEON monitors that have a 380W output. A power on/off switch on the side allows you to cut the power to preserve the batteries when not in use.

Two Gold mount battery plates on either side of the unit require batteries with a minimum of 12A load to provide stable power for the monitor. The monitor is then powered using the included 3-pin XLR power cable. It is recommended to have battery packs that are equal in capacity and output to operate, such as two Core SWX NEO 9, NEO 150, or HelixMax Gold mount batteries.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Under "key features" it says "10-Bit DCI P3 Color Gamut Displayed" yet under specs it says “Bit Depth / Color Support 8-Bit+FRC (1.07 Billion Colors)”. Which is it, 8bit or 10bit?

A: Atomos' spec sheet for this product says the bit depth is 10-bit (8+2 FRC).

Q: 2. Can this be powered by an AB or V-mount battery?

A: Hello Chad, at the moment it does not work with V mounts or anything other than plug in at the moment.

Q: 3. Is this ATOMOS marketing vaporware?

A: We have no reason to assume/believe that this is a vaporware instance, as Atomos is one of the companies that always stands behind its products and is careful to adhere to product release dates and relative support.

Q: 4. Couple of questions: 1- Can this be powered by a V-Mount battery? 2- Can HDR be displayed (not recorded) from any SDI/HDMI source, or must it be from a Atomos supported camera? 3- Are monitors calibrated at the factory?

A: Hello Robert, currently the NEON products are not yet shipping so we could not answer any of these questions. most if not all, should be by IBC time.

Q: 5. What type of calibration software can be used to calibrate the display? Is this display a true 10-Bit panel, or and 8-Bit FRC, like Atomos Sumo Monitor/Recorder?

A: The Neon 17 is 8-bit FRC, the 24 is true 10-bit. Calibration can be done with ATOMOS' proprietary software and an Eye One. A LUT can also be generated with an external program like Spectracal and then stored onboard the display.

Q: 6. What SSD's are approved for this monitor/recorder?

A: We recommend the following SSD drive for the Atomos Neon display recorder. However you can work with many other drives. Angelbird AtomX SSDmini (500GB) BH #ANATOMXM500 • MFR #ATOMXMINI500PK https://bhpho.to/2uOxVBL See this list and select Neon 17/24 for all the tested drives. https://bit.ly/3Je6I2H

Q: 7. Will the Neon record the 4k 16 bit over HDMI from the new Sony A7SIII?

Q: 8. will this screen be good for a Master, according to rewuirements at Netflix fro HDR grading ?

A: Hello Per Gunnar, in theory YES! it will be perfect for HDR viewing and grading however the product is not yet available, so stay tuned.

Q: 9. Will the battery options be backwards compatible to owners of the previous Neon's?

A: The Atomos NEON 17" 4K HDR Monitor with Dual-Battery Power Kit's (V-Mount) included Hypercore NEO Slim 98Wh batteries can be used to power any monitor that can run on 14.8 VDC power.

Q: 10. Does this support dual split screen, comparing two inputs, and be able to select which input to record?

A: Hello Eric, currently the product is not yet released, but i dont suspect there will be a dual screen option.
