Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the purpose of the Focus Hold Button?

A: For other lenses with this feature, the instruction manual states that when the Focus Hold button is pressed, autofocus function is suspended and the focus is fixed for shooting. The function of the focus Hold button can be changed on cameras with Custom Function capability. In practice, when you are in Autofocus mode, once you achieve the focus at your desired focus distance, you would press and hold the Focus Hold button. This stops the camera or the lens from changing the focus distance, so the camera will stay focused at the point until you release the Focus Hold button.

Q: 2. Could you theoretically attach treads and a Tilta Nucleus-M to this to manually control zoom and focus for video?

A: Yes, this is possible. Gearing can be attached to the Zoom and Focus Rings to enable control via a Follow Focus system.

Q: 3. Campared to the Sony Sony FE 70-200mm f4.0 are the extra stops worth the $1,100 price for model and landscape photography?

A: It depends if you like to shoot wide open or not. Personally, I do and it was worth the extra investment when I was with Canon and its worth it now with Sony. I had the 4.0 version with Canon and ended up selling it and buying the 2.8 afterward. It makes a huge difference when shooting individual portraits. love this lens!

Q: 4. With the lens being so heavy, do you need to handle it from the tripod collar or will the E-Mount handle the weight?

A: like most 70-200/2.8 lenses on any system, I wouldn't recommend using it just on the camera mount. I have found that the e-mount on the a7rii is strong enough to hold it but there is a fair amount of torque and anything in the wrong direction or too quick could put it past it's tolerance. That expensive of gear should be treated with respect I think. I'm just not one to risk it when the collar isn't unwieldy in the first place

Q: 5. Will this fit the Sony 70-200 GM first gen?

A: No, the Sony Lens Hood for FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II Lens does not fit the version one of the 70-200 lens. This one fits, Sony ALC-SH145 Lens Hood, https://bhpho.to/3pa2RvU .

Q: 6. How many stops of light do we lose by using this polarizer?

A: I contacted Sony concerning your inquiry. While they did not have an exact light loss listed for this Sony Drop-In Circular Polarizing Filter for Sony FE 400mm f/2.8 GM OSS Lens, they did state that circular polarizers typically block out half of light coming in, so typically light loss is 1-2 stops.

Q: 7. When it will be available to buy?

A: I apologize, but this type of request cannot be taken care of through this feature of our website. Please contact our Customer Service department by entering Live Chat, emailing directly to cs@a href= http://bhphoto.com, target= _blank bhphoto.com,/a or calling us toll-free at 800.221.5743.

Q: 8. what is the main difference from the Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II Lens that costs a lot more?

A: The FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II has improved optics (significant difference in my personal opinion after I traded my original one from the II), it's 30% lighter, and has a better linear AF motor for improved speed and accuracy.

Q: 9. Can this lense be used on my a77! And will it give me a good result or I should upgrade the body to the a7rii!

A: I echo the answer given by John. I believe a77 is compatible with A-mount lenses. The FE 70-200 GM is for E mount cameras. So, I don't think it is going to fit your camera unless an adopter is used.

Q: 10. Does this len work for a7

A: Yes it does. They are all E-mount. So it is supposed to work just fine.
