Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How many stops of light do we lose by using this polarizer?

A: I contacted Sony concerning your inquiry. While they did not have an exact light loss listed for this Sony Drop-In Circular Polarizing Filter for Sony FE 400mm f/2.8 GM OSS Lens, they did state that circular polarizers typically block out half of light coming in, so typically light loss is 1-2 stops.

Q: 2. what is the main difference from the Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II Lens that costs a lot more?

A: The FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II has improved optics (significant difference in my personal opinion after I traded my original one from the II), it's 30% lighter, and has a better linear AF motor for improved speed and accuracy.

Q: 3. Is this lens compatible with the Sony A 6000

A: Yes. This lens is fully compatible with the Sony Alpha a6000.

Q: 4. Does this len work for a7

A: Yes it does. They are all E-mount. So it is supposed to work just fine.

Q: 5. Zoom ring looser as it gets closer to 200mm ??

A: I have both the Canon and Sony 70-200 mm and they are about the same.It seems right to me.

Q: 6. hey guys, I'm thinking to get a zoom lens to work on my a7iii and I don't know if it's better to go for the 100/400 G or this 70/200 G and the 2x extender. what do you suggest? I'm gonna use it for wild photography

A: 70-200mm is a better choice

Q: 7. With the lens being so heavy, do you need to handle it from the tripod collar or will the E-Mount handle the weight?

A: like most 70-200/2.8 lenses on any system, I wouldn't recommend using it just on the camera mount. I have found that the e-mount on the a7rii is strong enough to hold it but there is a fair amount of torque and anything in the wrong direction or too quick could put it past it's tolerance. That expensive of gear should be treated with respect I think. I'm just not one to risk it when the collar isn't unwieldy in the first place

Q: 8. Just got it today. Is it normal that the lens twisting just a tiny little once locked on mount. It seems to be a little loose , I guess that is what I meant to say.

A: My FE 2.8 70-200 GM OSS will wiggle back and forth very slightly when mounted on my a7RII.

Q: 9. Could you theoretically attach treads and a Tilta Nucleus-M to this to manually control zoom and focus for video?

A: Yes, this is possible. Gearing can be attached to the Zoom and Focus Rings to enable control via a Follow Focus system.

Q: 10. Is this stable when using it handheld? For example is it good for indoor basketball?

A: it is stable as long as your are using 1/125 speed or higher.
