The 82mm M2 Magnetic Quick Swap Circular Polarizer Filter from Freewell offers the usual benefits of a polarizing filter with the convenience of their magnetic quick-swapping system. Once the magnetic frame is screwed on to the front of your lens, different filters can be attached, removed, or swapped out quickly and conveniently. The selective control offered by the CPL lets you effectively eliminate reflections in surfaces like glass, metal, or the surface of water by simply rotating the filter. This allows you to simultaneously preserve detail and color saturation in your images as well. The German optical glass construction and multilayer coating make the filter scratch and oil resistant as well as water and dustproof. The included pouch and lens cap help you further protect your filter when shooting on the go and switching between filters.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can the included 46mm filter (glass only) in this Sigma Circular Polarizer Holder BH #SIAP2900 - MFR #AP2900 be replaced with another 46mm curcular glass polarizer?

A: No, the Sigma filter is specific to the holder.

Q: 2. Other lens filters sometimes list filter factor or stop data - is that data available for this filter?

A: The B+W HTC/CP Hi-Transmission MRC-Nano Master Circular Polarizer Filter (82mm, Special 50th Anniversary Edition) has a Filter Factor of 2x (1-Stop) to 2.8x (1.5-Stop).

Q: 3. How much light do you loose with the polarizer set at its minimum setting?

A: You lose about 3/4 of a stop at its minimum setting.

Q: 4. Will they offer the drop-in filter adapter with both variable ND and circular polarizer?

A: This system is only available for use with 1 filter at a time. We are not aware of them offering an option that will allow for 2 filters.

Q: 5. Are there any problems with vignetting using this filter?

A: The B+W HTC/CP Hi-Transmission MRC-Nano Master Circular Polarizer Filter (95mm, Special 50th Anniversary Edition) is a very thin filter. It won't cause vignetting issues unless you are using a very wide lens, wider than 16mm in full frame.

Q: 6. The directions for the adapter say it has to be removed from the camera before I can change lenses. Why? It seems that it would be easier to leave the adapter on the camera and just change the lens attached to the adapter.

A: We recommend always following manufacturer's instructions, even when their reasoning might not be clear.

Q: 7. Is the adapter compatible with 3rd party 52mm screw-on filters?

A: Unfortunately it is not. This adapter is only compatible with the specific Drop-In Filters from Canon for it.

Q: 8. Does this help with lens flare on the Canon TSE 17mm? When I used my 17mm TSE on my 5DMkIII I rarely had lens flare. Now I have REALLY bad flare when using my 17mm TSE with my Vello adaptor on my R6.

A: The polarizing filter is to reduce glare/reflections. And to darken the color blue in things like the sky and water. It will not work to reduce actual lens flair. If the lens works fine on an EF mount camera, it could be that the adapter is causing it with that wide a lens and type of lens. The only other option would be to get the Canon brand adapter and see if that solves it. Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R BH #CAMAEFRF • MFR #2971C002 https://bhpho.to/3t6JznM

Q: 9. Are GND filters available?

A: While Canon does offer the Canon Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R with Variable ND Filter BH # CAMAEFRFDIND, there are no graduated ND filters that can be used with either adapter. You could only use those filters in a screw type or with a filter holder in front of the lens.

Q: 10. Wide angle lenses? Does the rear mount of the CPL make any difference with uneven polarization on wide angle lenses. I assume no, but never hurts to ask.

A: The rear-mounted CPL in this adapter does not make any difference with uneven polarization when used with wide angle EF lenses.
