Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the insert case sealed? I have heard some of Mindshifts other cases have open bottoms (sides are not sewn to allow for accordioning), where dust can get in. If I used this on occasion with out the outer case, would they still be in a safe/ dust free case?

A: I will use this with both cases (inner and outer). Filters are real traps for dust (electrostatics on glass surface) and even in the closed outer case dust will probably end up to enter and stick to filters. I always clean my filters with a lenspen before shooting. This Midshift system is perfectly made, high quality materials and zipper, color codes to identify quickly filters and good mechanical protection. However the only way to keep filters away from dust is its perfectly tight plastic case (even though it is not perfect neither) which is quickly messy in my photo bag.Inner separators are quite rigid and well protected, preventing their surface to touch the glass surface of filters; the upper edge is somehow thicker, which will certainly help maintaining filters in place.I recommend this product.

Q: 2. I have 145mm Wonderpana filters, will this hold that size?

A: This made to hold 100x150mm filter or 4x6 inches

Q: 3. Would this case fit 77mm filters side-by-side?

A: This case will allow 77mm filters to fit side-by-side.

Q: 4. Will this hold a Haida M10 filter system holder? Looking for something to take in the field and leave the larger Haida case at home.

A: Haida has a soft sided case with the Haida M10 Filter Bag, BH # HAHD4420. https://bhpho.to/3mcL3J2

Q: 5. I have some 4x4"x4mm thick square filters. Some replies says you can, and other replies say you can't, fit 4x4 filters into this bag. Which is it???

A: Yes, this case will hold 4x4 filters.

Q: 6. Can I fit six 4x6 and five 4x4 filters?

A: NO, You can fit 6 4X6 filters. There is six 82 MM filters pocket. But it's too small to put 4 X4 filter.

Q: 7. Will my 105mm lee landscape polarizer fit?

A: Absolutely, this case will fit for 105mm filter.I have Lee filter holder, 82mm ring holder & 76mm ring holder, Lee 0.3, 0.6, 0.9 ND filters, Lee Big Stopper, other CPL and UV filters in this case. It is very convenient for filters.

Q: 8. Does this scratch your filters at all?

A: I've not noticed any scratching; the material on the inside is quite soft.

Q: 9. I have about a half dozen of 49mm and 52mm filters that I would prefer to keep in the plastic boxes/cases they are sold in (approx 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 x 1/2 ). Will these boxes/round cases fit inside a Mindshift case?

A: No, they won't fit. Even if they did it would be difficult to use. Double the effort - remove from the case then remove from the box.

Q: 10. How is this pouch at keeping dust off the filters? Does that fuzzy stuff in the sections come off on the filters? Thx

A: Your filters will stay clean in the case, no issue there, what so ever... It's well built and water resistant. The only issue I've ever had with this case is, that I have a few of the thicker filters like Singh Ray's Vari-N-Duo, Vari-ND and the Color Combo Polarizer. The case isn't intended for such deep rimmed filters so space gets a little tight and occasionally, I'll get a finger print smudge on the filter because I have to pry it out with my fingers. But I have since move the two thick ones out of this case and it works a lot better... Hope this helps...

Highly recommended. You get two bags essentially, the inner and outer bags can be used separately. Slots can actually fit in my lee filter adaptors rings, but cannot put two adaptor rings in same row. Nice finishing and material.

This is not side loading. I spent the time with trial and error to give you my best instructions. While hanging negatives to dry, use a weighted (and DRY) film clip on the bottom of film strip. Now, cut a strip of the sleeve to length, and use a can of compressed air to open up the sleeve. You can then use the weight of the lower film clip to pull a roll of film through the sleeve easily. Works for 120 and 35mm using narrow clips.

I love having this on a roll so that I can decide how much to cut off for each individual negative or negative strip. I insert the negative or strip and then seal the end using my sealer, then cut it off from the roll.

It's a little crazy to spend about $50 on a filtercase but when each filter is like $80-$150, it is worth protecting your glass. Great quality, would recommend.

I shoot mostly black & white film and require a number of contrast filters as well as a polarizer and neutral density as well as a couple of step-up rings. This is the first case I have found that meets my needs. It is quality built, and protects the filters quite well. I can definitely recommend it.

I found the Filter Nest very well designed and crafted. It is an excellent way to organize filters and provides for easy and quick access, especially if you are working on location. I would recommend this product.
