The Nikon F mount Samyang 10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS Lens is a prime, manual focus wide-angle lens designed specifically for use with APS-C-sized image sensors. Providing a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 15mm and a broad 109.5° angle of view, this lens is ideally suited for interior, architectural, and landscape photography applications. One extra-low dispersion element and two aspherical elements have been incorporated into the optical design to minimize chromatic aberrations and distortion in order to produce sharper images. Additionally, a nano crystal anti-reflection coating system (NCS) has been applied to lens elements in order to reduce surface reflections and prevent lens flare and ghosting for improved light transmission and more contrast-rich imagery.

The Nikon F mount of this lens incorporates a CPU/electronic circuit that enables full control over exposure parameters, including P/A/S/M modes, with Nikon DSLRs. It also permits the use of i-TTL flash communication and transferring of EXIF data to image files.

Q: 1. Specs say that it has EF mount, but it also says it's designed for APS-C sensor cameras... This doesn't make sense to me. My concern is that I have an APS-C sensor camera now, but I'm planning to upgrade to a full frame camera in the near future. Will this lens work in a full frame camera?

A: All third-party lens manufacturers who design lenses for Canon DSLR cameras use the Canon EF lens mount which uses the red dot on the lens mount, regardless if the lens is designed for a camera that uses a full-frame sensor or a camera that uses the APS-C sensor. However, a lens designed for the Canon APS-C sensor should not be used on their full-frame cameras, regardless if the lens will physically fit. As such, while the Samyang 10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS Lens uses the Canon EF Mount, it should not be used on a Canon full-frame camera. If you are looking for a lens to use on both full-frame and APS-C sensor cameras, then I would instead recommend the Samyang 14mm Ultra Wide-Angle f/2.8 IF ED UMC Lens for Canon EF Mount, B&H # SA1428C, for your needs.

Q: 2. Can't see the back of this lens. Does it have any electronic connection to the camera body or is it 100% manual. The biggest question I have in that is in regards to the manual aperture ring is it the auto step-down type that stays wide open until the the shutter button is pressed or the aperture step down button is pressed like a canon FD lens or does it close down manually like a Lensbaby Velvet ? Also I'm wondering is there Metadata info sent to the camera? I don't think ether of these things are going to be a huge factor in my choice in buying this lens or not, it's about the image quality is first and foremost, I just want to know what I'm getting.

A: The lens is 100% percent manual. There is however some kind of connection to step-down aperture when you press shutter. There is no metadata sent to camera. In my case all pictures come out as some generic 50mm lens - same as for another 8mm Samyang lens I use. At least this is how lens behaves on Canon 7D.To address that I developed another step in my workflow and I am updating EXIF settings to correct lens right after importing images to Lightroom.

Q: 3. Hi, a question ... I hesitate between buying the Rokinon 10mm f / 2.8 ED AS NCS CS Lens for Canon EF Mount and 10mm f / 2.8 ED AS NCS CS Lens ( Canon EF Mount) by Samyang , which is the difference between these target ??? , I only see diferenciasn q is the price .... A greeting and thanks .

A: Rokinon is the makers' brand (ROK for Republic of Korea), Samyang is a second brand of the same maker. There is no difference in the lens quality.

Q: 4. I'm thinking of buying this for a GH4, as I've already got a (non speedboosting) adapter, or are there any pros or cons to buying one directly for MFT, like this Rokinon? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1039937-REG/rokinon_10m_mft_10mm_f_2_8_ed_as.html

A: The only thing you may want to consider is the ease of use with this lens if you were to use other micro 4/3 cameras in the future; otherwise, there aren't really any cons to getting this lens if you plan to use it with a speed booster.

Q: 5. Will this lens fit the Canon T6?

A: Yes, the Samyang 10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS Lens (Canon EF Mount) will mount onto the Canon EOS T6 DSLR camera. Do note that this is a fully manual lens, and you will have to both focus manually and set the aperture on the lens manually. As there is no electronic communication between the camera and lens, you would have to use either Av (Aperture Value/Aperture-Priority) or Manual mode to set the exposure.

Q: 6. Can you take the Hood off of this lens Samyang 10mm/f2.8 ?

A: The hood is manufactured into the lens. They are not separate.

Q: 7. Does the lens come with a Cap and Hood?

A: The following items are listed under the In The Box section on our website as included with the Samyang 10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS Lens (Sony E Mount):In the BoxSamyang 10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS Lens (Sony E Mount)Front and Rear Lens CapsLens HoodSoft Lens BagLimited 3-Year WarrantyAs indicated, both the front and rear lens caps, as well as the lens hood, are included by Samyang with the lens purchase.

Q: 8. Is this lens threaded for filters?

A: No it isn't. It has a non-removable lens hood with no filter threads.

Q: 9. Does this lens have an infinity stop (that is actually calibrated to infinity)?

A: Yes, there is an infinity stop and it is calibrated.

Q: 10. I purchased the lense for vacation and it worked prior to, now I am unable to snap any pictures with this lense mounted. Is this a common problem? if so, how do I fix it?

A: Hi! I have same lense on my xt1 .It working perfect. Did you put camera in shooting menu shoot without lense on ? May be lense not attached correct to body.Good luck.

I bought this for my K-50 because it was designed specifically for APS-C format cameras. Absolutely delighted with how it worked during our recent trip to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. The depth of field is amazing - when shooting in bright light I set the f-stop to 4 or 5.6 in AV mode and then set the lens using the depth of field markings. The K-50 happily chirped every time, telling me it was in focus. During the evenings for night sky shooting all I had to do was open it wide to f/2.8 and set the focus marking to infinity - I tested that during the day time as well. Perfect pinpoint stars near the center and just a trace of astigmatism at the corners - very good performance. Looking forward to using this beauty during future travels that take us into grand buildings, where the ultra-wide rectilinear performance will really be handy. Should have bought one three years ago.

Simply awesome! Excellent sharpness and low presence of CA. I use it for travel and hope to use it soon for astrophotography. The manual focus ring is smooth and it's a pleasure to focus with it. Best quality/value ratio for me.

I wanted a wide angle lens to finish my lens line on the wide end. I wanted something pretty fast with good optics. This lens fit the bill.

I was a little hesitant to get a strictly manual lens but I have had no issues using the manual features. Plus, my Panasonic G85 does some auto functions even with the full manual lens.

The lens was longer and heavier than I expected. It's about the same length as my 100-300mm Lumix lens and a few ounces heavier. This has not been an issue since the f/2.8 handles low light pretty well even without a tripod. I really expected to see a significant fisheye distortion but was very pleasantly surprised at how little there is. This lens is already seeing use.

I bought this lens to use with my Nikon D7100 for milky way photography. The lens exceeded my expectations-- it was easy to use and the images were phenomenal-- a great angle of view and sharp detail. I could not be happier.
