You can't expect to use them for many things at the same your trying to carry your camera, but they do come handy when you have your camera on tripod only shoots, like interviews, and you the need to add some small accessories.2) If I had to chose one word for this item: High Quality (thats two). Aside from the wooden label, everything is hard, solid steel. Quality is on par with Zacuto.3) No. I bought Zacuto's 3 rail and they both paired very nicely.4) Very comfortable.
