Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. If I have 12G SDI cables plugged into this, and send a 12G signal (4k 60p), what would happen? Would it down-convert it somehow and send a 6G signal out? Or would it just not work?

A: Sending a 12G signal will not work and will not down-convert to a 6G signal.

Q: 2. Can you create Macros with the CleanSwitch 12X12?

A: Creating macros is not listed as an ability of the Blackmagic Design Smart Videohub CleanSwitch.

Q: 3. What is the country of origin?

A: Australia

Q: 4. Will this switch act as a signal booster? I have very long cable runs planned to connect to this cleanswitch, and then another fairly long cable run from the cleanswitch to an ATEM switcher. I need it for its routing abilities too, but my biggest concern is signal loss.

A: All SDI signals will be reclocked in the Videohub. If the signal properly makes it to the Videohub you will be able to transmit a clean output signal.

Q: 5. will this box pass closed captioning information?

A: Yes SDI closed captions are supported.

Q: 6. If I buy another RX will it connect with my existing TX for my Trigyn Apex 5G1K? Also do you have D-Tap to 4pin Lemo cables with RIGHT-ANGLE ?

A: Yes it will. You can use up to 4 receivers with a single Trigyn Apex 5G1K system. However we do not have D-Tap cables for this product available for a separate purchase at this time.

Q: 7. HelloI want to replace a Kramer 4X4 matrix with this one.If i use this on am i going to have any delay when switching between inputs or is it better to use the non CleanSwitch version?I ask this because i suppose (i hope i am wrong) that if this one tries to keep all devices in synced in frame it may cause a bit of delay. Is it the proper device to use as a matrix/switcher on live events?thanks

A: We use this unit and also the older version that does not clean switch. Biggest difference between the two for us is the newer one does not lose signal while switching, which is nice, but it does add about 1 frame delay to the signal. We run our camera line through this and then to the ATEM switcher out to a projector, and there is a slight delay between what happens live on stage and what is seen on screen.

Q: 8. Will this device carry the audio over sdi?

A: Yes it will

Q: 9. I currently have 3G cables running to all my cameras and devices, does this unit accept the 3G signals or what?

A: As Blackmagic Design has stated, 3G cables would be fine for short distances of 6G signals or at greater lengths for 3G signals. If you plan on using 4K content, you may want to consider upgrading cables if your distance is significant.

Q: 10. I want to run 3 SDI cables into the videohub and have just one output that goes into a coaxial drop that pushes out a live feed over cablecast (this is for public access). In theory this should work but is there anything I'm missing here?

A: Are all 3 SDI signals the same resolution and frame rate? If so, then maybe an ATEM switcher might be better suited. But yes, this will work.
