The blue Camera Body Armor for JVC GY-HM850 Camcorder from Porta Brace is a snug jacket made of water-resistant ultra-suede micro fiber with a high-density foam interior and a breathable tech-mesh interior. It is designed to snugly fit a JVC GY-HM850 camcorder and protect it from bumps, hits and scratches. It also reduces the risk of equipment damage due to precipitation, dust, and other harsh conditions. Various flaps and vinyl windows provide visibility to the camcorder's controls. The back end is expandable to accommodate various sized batteries and wireless microphone combinations. The included attached rain cover protects the body armor. Q: 5. How much more than camera can it hold? What does inside look like?

A: The inside of the bag is burnt orange with a tight black document pocket on one side. It comes with a velcro divider. With the HM170 in the bag there's about 3-4 inches of clearance in front of the camera, assuming you push the camera all the way to one side. There's probably 1-2 inches of clearance on the sides of the camera. These measurements were taken with the lens hood and microphone mounted. I would say there's enough room for the camera, power supply, a few batteries, and some small items but not much else.

Q: 6. Does this cover protect the shotgun microphone?

A: Not really. The cover is long enough to provide some cover for short shotgun mics but ultimately your audio will be compromised by the rain cover itself. for example if you use this in the rain the sound of rain hitting the cover will be much louder than your subject simply because the rain hitting the rain slicker is so much closer to the microphone than your subject. It is best to take the microphone off the camera and have a dedicated mount with dedicated protection for the shotgun microphone to get the best audio when using this in inclement weather.

Q: 7. Can this camera output via SDI 720p 59.9 and or 1080 29.9, 30, 59.9 , 60 to be used with a live switcher like blackmagic design ATEM studio HD?

A: Yes, it can output those frame rates.

Awesome product, horrible customer service. The bag works great, fits my camera perfectly and room for a few accessories without over packing the bag. But if you might need customer service, don't expect it from BNH, buy elsewhere. 5

I really love this Camera... Works great. Picture quality is great, controls are easy, very light camera, but very rugged as well. When shooting freehand with a Steady Stick, I find that focusing Long Distances is difficult with manual focus and impossible with Auto Focus (I primarily shoot a lot of RC A/C.. Distance shots even zoomed in hard to focus through the viewfinder and using the flip out monitor in daylight is useless as you just get blinded.... I Have a GY-HM100U camera and I do not have the RC shooting problem that I have with the 180, However this is a minor issue for me. However, even with all of that, I really like the camera. Heavy Duty, Great Video, works well... Inside use of the camera is 2nd to none... everything works great and as advertised as does shooting at night does very very well. One feature that I noted is the Remote Port... It is actually LANC and works well with LANC Devices, even though it is not advertised... A great feature that JVC should push, but do not seem to do. 5

I decided to get this bag because of Porta Brace's outstanding reputation and the fact that it's a near-perfect fit for the HM170, although it would also fit other smallish camcorders. The inside of the bag is burnt orange with a tight black document pocket on one side. It comes with a velcro divider. With the HM170 in the bag there's about 3-4 inches of clearance in front of the camera, assuming you push the camera all the way to one side. There's probably 1-2 inches of clearance on the sides of the camera. These measurements were taken with the lens hood and microphone mounted. (See attached photo) I would say there's enough room for the camera, power supply, a few batteries, and some small items but not much else. All in all, an excellent bag that will stand the rigors of the field. 5

I give the JVC HC900 5-Stars! Excellent Camera all the way around. Caution....The on camera microphone requires a 5-pin XLR connection. The nearest 3-pin XLR jacks are located in the rear of the camera below the battery. If you purchase a 5-pin male to 3-pin female XLR cable, it will need to be at least 16 in length. Weight is about 18.6lbs with battery. 5
