The C-80 from Sony is a condenser microphone designed to deliver professional-quality vocal recordings with a powerful and rich midrange along with a hint of added presence to cut through the mix. The mic’s dual-capsule design helps to reduce proximity effect and provide a consistent-sounding response, even if the vocalist moves slightly closer or further away from the mic during a take.

Great care has been taken to ensure that the mic provides sonic character and little else. The two-part metallic construction is based on the highly regarded C-800G and C-100 models and prevents acoustic vibrations, helping to keep inherent noise and unwanted sonic artifacts out of your recordings.

The large-diaphragm condenser element yields a true frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, with a dynamic range of more than 125.5 dB. The C-80 plays quite nicely, even with loud singers, as the capsule offers a -10 dB pad and can handle SPLs up to 138 dB. A high-pass filter is also on board to help reduce low-end rumbles and other unwanted low-end frequencies, while a suspension shockmount is included to isolate the mic from vibrations and handling noise. A carrying case is also supplied for storage and transport.

At the core of the C-80's excellent sonic character is the dual-diaphragm microphone element, which helps to minimize proximity effects for sonically consistent recordings. In addition, the cardioid polar pattern focuses audio capture at the area around the mic, reducing unwanted sound from the rear and sides.

The large-diaphragm condenser element yields a true frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz with a dynamic range of more than 125.5 dB. The result is a flat-frequency response that maintains detail with low signals and transients. With a high sensitivity of -30 dB/Pa, the C-80 microphone can capture subtle nuances at high frequencies with low noise levels and minimum distortion.

The C-80 microphone incorporates a two-part aluminum body that helps to prevent acoustic vibration from reaching the microphone capsule, resulting in clarity of sonic reproduction.

Q: 1. Just received this kit and found that I am unable to mount the shock mount to the mic stand. We have a standard sized mic stand but the shock mount attachment is too small. Is there a special (or different) attachment available so I can mount the shock mount and mic to the mic stand?

A: The included shockmount features a female 3/8 to 5/8 male microphone adapter (similar to B&H# AUADCOMBOB) that allows integration with European standardized mic stands. To remove, simply locate the indentations or grooves on the outer edge of the adapter, and use a flat head screw-driver or small coin to turn an loosen; at which point the shockmount will have the correct size for your mic stand.

Q: 2. Is this mic compatible with this https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1023480-REG/auray_bai_2x_2_sect_brdcst_arm.html target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1023480-REG/auray_bai_2x_2_sect_brdcst_arm.html/a ?

A: Yeah! The kits themselves come with all of the materials you need to rig it up, too.

Q: 3. What do i need to make it a mic?

A: This kit comes with a mic. The Senal SC-550X Large Diaphragm Condenser and everything else you need to record and edit Voice Overs. It is a complete kit.

Q: 5. Can i use this for recording in real time? Is it a microphone?, and will it come up as a microphone on my computer?

A: This is a complete Voice Over kit with a microphone and everything else you need to do professional sounding VO production. The kit includes the software you will need to record and edit your tracks as well as Speech and Voice Processor Plug-Ins. If you are speaking into a microphone and recording with the software that comes with this kit, everything is in real time.

Q: 6. I have a small production coming up where I have to record someone singing. Is than an appropriate mic for singing vocals? The talent will be listening to the music via headphones so this mic will only capture her voice.

A: For a recording application like the one you are describing, the Senal SC-550X would be a great model to consider for this application.

Q: 7. How does this mic sound compared to an akg p220. what type of sound does it deliver.? I cant find any videos or sound test on this microphone.

A: I would suggest you go with the AKG. AKG has been making some of the best mics in the business for decades. Better to go with something that has a proven track record.

Q: 8. Atbthe bottom of the mic can i just comnect that to a tascam and start recording. Cause my friend has this huge mic with the soft sound thing around and did that. So do i need anything like the phantom power to operate this?

A: Not good, don't buy it

Q: 9. I hear a very loud, persistent, high-pitched ring when I record with my laptop. Is there a way to fix that? Also, my table stand does not fit the shock mount :/

A: As for the the shock mount, please double check that any smaller thread adapter inside the thread area of mount has been removed. This often can be achieved with a penny or nickel. Regarding the high pitched ring, there could be many reasons for noise issues, I do recommend calling in to our team of specialists for assistance.

Q: 10. Can this mic stand be used with the blue snowball shock mount called the ringer?

A: The Blue Ringer Shock Mount is compatible with this stand kit.
