Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you remove the stand and use it as a mini tripod by screwing a seperate smartphone grip to it?

A: The pole can also be detached from the base and used as a selfie stick. The pole will have a male 1/4"-20 screw at the bottom, so your grip or other accessories will need a female 1/4"-20 mount available.

Q: 2. Is the case made by Pelican , and is is lockable , also is there any way to lock the zippers on the travel soft bag? There are 4 cut outs for lenses. Are there more Loxia lenses to be released ? Are the Loxia lenses sharper than Batis lenses ? I have all three Batis, and would like a case for these as well. Will Zeiss offer a case for them ?Thanks: Half Centurian

A: Unfortunately, Zeiss does not indicate the manufacturer of the Zeiss Loxia Transport Case/Bag. The hard case does have holes for use with a standard TSA padlock. Your question concerning lens image quality is not quite balanced as the Loxia lenses and Batis lenses do not come in similar/equal focal lengths. The closest option would be the Zeiss Batis 25mm f/2 lens and the Zeiss Loxia 21mm f/2.8 lens. BOth lenses have nearly similar performance, though the Loxia lens is slightly sharper compared to the Batis lens, though the Batis lens is both brighter and has slightly better vignetting control. We only have access to information that has currently been released by Zeiss or announced in press releases. At this time, we do not have any information regarding newer Loxia lenses to be released or a case specifically designed for the Batis lenses.

Q: 3. What do I need to use this with my Canon 5D M4?

A: This is to fit Canon SLR and DLSR bodies. You do not need anything extra for a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV.

Q: 4. Will this work with Sunpak 120j?

A: Due to power and connection differences, The Bolt Flashtube for VB-22 Bare-Bulb Flash is not compatible with the Sunpak 120J II Flash.

Q: 5. How does this work on uneven terrain? Does the foot pivot?

A: The Manfrotto VR PIXI EVO Kit is designed for flat surfaces and floors. The length and angle of each of the feet can be adjusted to work on slightly uneven terrain, but I would not recommend this tripod for very uneven terrain.

Q: 6. Is this adapter compatible with the NiSi Athena PL mount primes given their protruding rear element?

A: As the Meike Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter for ARRI PL-Mount Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera with Filters Kit can only work with PL lenses that have a rear element depth of 21mm or less, most of the NiSi ATHENA PRIME T2.4/1.9 Full-Frame 8-Lens MASTER Kit (ARRI PL) would not be compatible.

Q: 7. Looking at the video, there does not appear to be any filter in front on the front element on the telephoto lense. Wouldn't you have to have a solar filter in front to keep from damaging the internal components of the telephoto lens? Should you use a Mylar solar sheet like I normally use for telephoto sun pictures.

A: You are right,it is called ERF(energy reflecting filter). I have ordered one with my Ha filter Aug 3 but has not arrived. So haven't been able to used the Ha filter.

Q: 8. What is the difference between a tuned for prominences and a chromosphere filter? Is there one of them that does both better? How do I choose?

A: No, two different condition. The chromosphere is the sun's surface. The prominence is viewing sun flairs around the perimeter of the sun. .

Q: 9. Does this come with a carrying bag?

A: A travel case is not included with the Manfrotto VR PIXI EVO Kit.

Q: 10. What is the monopod made of?

A: The body of the Manfrotto VR PIXI EVO Kit is aluminium.

I just put it on the lens to protect it against damage. I don't think it affects the qiality of the image at all.

It does what it is supposed to - protects lens and creates sharper images with less haze.

I always use UV filter for protection of lens. I find that Hoya has better quality (better fit, threads cleaner, better Multicoat) than other filter brands in the same price range.

You only have to damage the front element of an expensive lens once to become wedded to the use of a NC Glass Filter. Nikons filters are arguably the most expensive among other choices but Id rather pay a premium than wonder what quality glass Im putting between my subject and its image.

After buying a cheaper UV filter and finally realizing the negative impact it was having on my photos I purchased this NC filter for my nikkor 200-500 lens. I used the lens for several months without a filter then purchased this one. Couldn't be happier. My shots are just as sharp with it as before. I have the same filter on my 70-200. 2.8 as well. Not cheap but so worth it.

Today I get my first roll of 35mm film prossed so we will see. If it is like all my others it will be fine.

Bought as a physical protection for my lenses (I have young kids). It's being mounted on a DSLR so its optical benefit is insignificant. I've shot into a strong light source and not gotten any flare or ghosting, yet, I usually take the filter off when doing any shots other than simple snapshots.
