I recently acquired a Tamron 150-600mm lens, which is both large and somewhat unwieldy to lug around over several hours of shooting.  The standard neck strap that came with my Canon camera just didnt seem adequate to carry so much weight.  Additionally, it put added strain on my neck.

I purchased this strap on the recommendation of a fellow photographer, and I am very pleased with it so far.  This strap is very sturdy and comfortable, and I feel very secure allowing my camera to hang freely.  

A D-ring (which is included... an important point, as some of the straps do not include it) attaches to the camera via the tripod mount hole in the bottom of the camera/lens. The strap attaches to the carabiner with a D-ring (see item description). This is a very sturdy way for me to carry my camera, as the tripod mount is on the lens itself, which helps equalize the weight distribution.  It moves freely within the limits I set (using sliding/locking strap clamps), and is easily adjustable.

There are a couple of things to note:
1. As stated in the description, the camera does hang upside down (when used on a larger, heavier lens like mine).  Although still very securely held and comfortable, this could feel weird to some.

2.  It is wise to check the tightness of the D-ring before each outing.  Vibrations and other movements put pressure on the D-ring and can loosen it ever so slightly after a few hours of use. Over time, without checking and re-tightening when needed, it can work loose. Apparently there have been a few people to whom this has happened. I dont intent to be one of them.

Overall, I highly recommend this product.

I have been searching for a comfortable and functional strap for years. This one finally fits the bill.

This is my second Black Rapid camera strap, the other is on my backup camera.  My current camera is much heavier the strap holds it securely and comfortably, and at the right angle for quick access.  Although its bit expensive, its worth the money.

I was amazed on how well this product was able to distribute the weight of my camera with a 600mm lens attached.

I attended a photography workshop last summer and noticed how many people had Black Rapid camera straps ... now I know why ... for hiking and moving around ... this strap is a huge improvement over the traditional around the neck style.  Having the camera at your side, being able to move the camera up to your eye without straps on each side of camera is very convenient ... and quick.  Also the strap across the shoulder is more comfortable for long walks or hiking.  The strap also had a small pocket for a lens cloth or an extra memory card.  Note: if you want to place your camera on a tripod ... you need to either buy a separate Black Rapid tripod plate (very pricey for a tripod plate) or unscrew the BR D ring mount and use you own tripod plate.

Needed a new heavy weight camera strap for a new longer lens for my Canon. The B & H chat rep recommended this one. I had already researched on my own and found the same outcome so immediately ordered it. It was as expected and works well for my needs. I am an older female so the strap padding and allowance for adjustments works for me. I would recommend for anyone needing something other than the strap which comes with their camera.

You can find similar straps on Amazon for $10 to $20, but do you really want your $2000 rig hanging from a $10 strap? Spend the money and have it over with!

I've been using this strap since I purchased an original version about 8 years ago. I was pretty happy with the original and now they've actually improved it. The new version has a zippered compartment on the shoulder pad which I use to carry a spare camera battery. Speaking of the shoulder pad, the new version uses a ventilated liner which is cooler and grips your shirt or jacket better.
This strap lets me carry my camera upside down at my right thigh with the lens pointing to the rear. No fear of a shoulder strap slipping off your shoulder or a strap around your neck giving you a headache. Particularly important with a full frame camera with a 70 - 200 2.8 attached. A bit heavy. This strap works perfectly.

When I need the camera i just reach down and slide it up the strap to my eye in one motion.
I may just buy another one of these in case they decide to stop offering it!

Sometimes you need to switch from one side to the other and this strap works just fine.
The padding is excellent making it very comfortable on long hikes. Glad I made this purchase
