A: The AstrHori 40mm f/5.6 Lens (Leica M, Silver) aperture ring is de-clicked.

Q: 2. a sharp and clear shot like 24-105. The lens looks like new no scratch on it. Who has the same problems with this lens. I paid too much money for it?

A: What is the actual question?

Q: 3. Why is there no Sony version?

A: Unfortunately, we are not privy to Samyang's design and engineering decisions. For such information, I would highly suggest reaching out to the manufacturer, and I would also recommend expressing your desire for a Sony version, as that might encourage them to produce it.

Q: 4. Im interested in using this 14mm lens for night photography and wide-angle macro. Has anyone tried using this lens with a 12mm extension tube for wide-angle macro? Im wondering if thats even possible. Thanks!

A: As per Canon, the Extension Tube EF 12 II will not work with this particular lens.

A: Yes, that lens has very little distortion and is one of the best lenses you can buy for shooting architectural interiors.

Q: 9. I understand there is no front thread for a filter, but does anyone have an idea what size the front could be, AND also what the rear filter size is?

A: I’m looking at the Lee SW 150 Mark II filter system. It has an adapter (BH #LEASWC14) that fits this lens.

Q: 10. Is this physically the same lens as the Rokinon SP 14mm f/2.4?

A: Yes, same lens. Rokinon and Samyang are basically the same company.

I was in the middle of the desert working on a television show. I only had a 18-135mm on me. I did not think I was going to have much time to take photos but when I saw the stars out there I new I needed something wide. I ordered from B&H and over night shipped the 14mm. All I can say is WOW! This lens is great! I wish it was faster than a 2.8 but I created some great time lapse footage and took some great pictures. I am going to take this 14mm with me from now on. Only con is the ring with the lens numbering is made of plastic. It was scratched within the second day.

I ordered this lens as it was the widest Canon offered without going into fisheye. I mount this lens on my 5D MarkII. When I attached this lens to my camera, I was not prepared for what I saw when I looked through the viewfinder. I purchased several lenses at the time I got this one. 24-70 f/2.8L, 24-105 f/4.0L, 135 f/2.0L & 300 f/4.0L. This is the only lens I was not able to just attach and begin shooting. This lens is so specialized, that I am still working on different angles and perspectives to shoot from with this lens. It is definitely not a 'beginner' lens. It's a 'creative' lens. I have found that my landscapes are better when shot from very low to the ground. It is very easy to get your shadow and your feet in the picture. Also, things that seem almost behind you can also get caught in the shot. All these different perspectives can be used favorably after you get the hang of this lens. That said, I have to say that my images are super sharp. At all stops. This is the only lens I have that I will be working with for quite some time however, I have already gotten some shots that I am thrilled with using this lens. The lens is very light and as have others said, the front of the lens bows out and there is not protective filter that can be used so extra care needs to be taken when using this lens to avoid damaging it. It also comes with a rear gel holder, but I currently have no use for that. I have been told this makes an excellent video lens but I have not tried it as such yet. I am going to Bryce Canyon, Zion and Yellowstone Park next month and I can't wait to experiment with this lens while I am there. Super-expensive, so be sure it will meet your needs.

I love architecture and landscapes so I really wanted to give myself the best chance. This lens is ultra ultra wide so it is easy to get everything in your picture but come on, you could do that for a whole lot cheaper. With this lens you need to be creative because a small change in the direction you shoot or where you stand can result in a huge difference in the outcome. Focuses super fast, crisp and clear. This lens is not for everyone, but I would surely recommend it for those of you who know who you are. Cheers!

After three months I'm ready to say this lens is awesome (but don't share this with Canon because I'm not saying anything nice about them until they deliver the 1D X I ordered 3 months ago). Whether I'm shooting cars at a cruise night, flowers in the wild, or a child in a client's home, this lens delivers. I'm getting images I never would have created with the 24-70 f2.8. The color is beautiful, and you have to see the sharpness in a large image to appreciate the crispness. It's a lens that screams to be used. The depth of field in the sample image is shallow, but that's due to my choice. Closed down, the DOF is huge. The beautiful, unprotected glass that sticks out in front of the lens about two and a half feet still makes me nervous, but I'm getting over my paranoia. I have not used the 16-35 zoom, but at the moment I have no desire to experiment with one. This lens makes me happy every time I take it out of my bag.

I took this lens out only a couple of times, but it has already blown my mind. The quality of the images and the colors are fantastic. The very subtle colors found on a grey Saturday morning in Manhattan were totally preserved. I also really like the very fast autofocus... it feels like I have a new camera! I can't wait to take it out to shoot great outdoors sceneries. Main negative points: the price (yes...). And the bulging lens freaks me out a little bit. I'm just so scared that the cap will come off and then this pristine glass will rub against something!

Though extremely expensive, this lens is much better than 15mm f/2.8 fisheye or the 16-35mm f2.8 in that it generates little to no edge distortion or lens aboration. A must have for any serious wedding photojournalist... The only thing better would be if canon came out with a 14-24mm f1.4 with the same qualities as this one; even at as much as $I'd buy it...

I just added this lens - pretty expensive, but very sharp and no detectable distortion shooting straight on. Will be shooting 20-60 second exposures this evening of Christmas tree lights and see how well they clean up in Photoshop. Cameras are MarkIID and 40D, Canon G9 and TX1. Problems Encountered: None yet. Had to send my 70-200 2.8 USML lens back twice though - bummer.

i am using this lens on a 5d MkIII. I also own the 16-35L, but let me tell you, the additional two millimeters make a world of difference. If you own a 5D MkIII, take advantage of the in-viewfinder bubble level when using this lens to minimize any distortion. Great bokeh when shooting close to a subject at open aperture. Awesome for architectural interiors. The Sigma answer to this lens is not in the same league.
