With high-performance specs and low RFI susceptibility, the satin nickel Microtech Gefell M 930 Ts is a transformer-coupled cardioid condenser microphone well suited for demanding broadcast and studio recording of speech, vocals, and varied instruments. The large-diaphragm capsule is elastically suspended to inhibit vibration noise, allowing the M 930 Ts to produce excellent detail for low-level signals as well as distortion-free clarity at high SPLs up to 142 dB, all while yielding very-low self-noise (7 dBA).

The overall frequency response is balanced and quite flat, with a slight rise from 6 to 12 kHz to exude enhanced presence and brilliance. Thanks to the cardioid polar pattern, cancellation at the rear of the mic exceeds 25 dB, helping minimize background noise and bleed from other sounds. Both compact and durable, the metal-bodied M 930 Ts is attractive and easy to place. It includes a microphone holder and a wooden case for storage.

The M 930 Ts uses the same 1.1" large-diaphragm capsule found in the original M 930 but also features a modified impedance-converter circuit and a specially designed output transformer. This gives the mic a slightly improved low-end response, the ability to drive longer cable runs, and more headroom—especially when working with high-impedance preamps.

It is designed for professional and semi-professional users who place the highest demands on their equipment. The microphone is particularly suitable for universal use in radio and recording studios and, due to the price class, also in the demanding home recording sector.

Possible applications for the M 930 Ts include singing, speaking positions, radio plays, and as a support microphone for recording guitars, keyboards, percussion, wind instruments, and strings.

The M 930 Ts studio microphone combines updated large-diaphragm capsule technology with the latest semiconductor circuit technology. The condenser capsules exhibits a smooth frequency response with a slight presence boost in the 6 to 12 kHz range.

The electronic impedance converter uses a newly perfected circuit topology. This design reduces the noise floor to an extremely low level (just 7 dBA) while also raising the maximum output capability. As a result, the microphone has a clean, distortion-free sound over an extremely wide dynamic range. Also, RFI susceptibility is very low.

The polar response exhibits an exceptionally high degree of rejection for sounds impinging from the rear of the mic.

The microphone capsule and electronics are elastically suspended inside the compact metal housing. This reduces the sensitivity to mechanical impact and structure-borne noise.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How does this mic sound compared to an akg p220. what type of sound does it deliver.? I cant find any videos or sound test on this microphone.

A: I would suggest you go with the AKG. AKG has been making some of the best mics in the business for decades. Better to go with something that has a proven track record.

Q: 2. Does the Shure MOTIV MV51 work with the iPhone 4?

A: It is designed for iOS products with a lightning connector only. An adapter has not been tested nor is using one recommended.

Q: 3. Is this mic compatible with this https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1023480-REG/auray_bai_2x_2_sect_brdcst_arm.html target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1023480-REG/auray_bai_2x_2_sect_brdcst_arm.html/a ?

A: Yeah! The kits themselves come with all of the materials you need to rig it up, too.

Q: 4. Is this a stereo set for $1,200?

A: Yes, this is a stereo set.

Q: 5. How would I connect this to a mic stand? Is there a way to do so that would not involve screwing it on (to release it more quickly)?

A: You could try using a mic quick release adaptor. It's a device you would mount to the stand and screw the MV51 into that would allow for you to separate the two with a quick intentional motion (varies by model). Shure does not make one, however there are various models available from other manufacturers, such as the GFW-MIC-QRTOP from Gator Frameworks.

Q: 6. Atbthe bottom of the mic can i just comnect that to a tascam and start recording. Cause my friend has this huge mic with the soft sound thing around and did that. So do i need anything like the phantom power to operate this?

A: Not good, don't buy it

Q: 7. How is this model different than the other seemingly identical B&H item here? a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1115605-REG/shure_mv51_digital_large_diaphragm_condenser_mic.html target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1115605-REG/shure_mv51_digital_large_diaphragm_condenser_mic.html/a

A: There's just a slight difference in the packaging. hardware, accessories, operation and specs are identical.

Q: 8. Anybody have trouble with the usb cable staying in the usb connector?

A: The USB port on the Shure MV51 is a micro-B. Perhaps an angled plug may be a good option if you are having problems with the straight plug disconnecting. We have a 6' long StarTech USB 2.0 Type-A Male to Left-Angle Micro-USB Male Cable (B&H# STUUSBHAUB6L) that you can try.

Q: 9. "You can power the mic with 48V phantom power." This sentence is in the description for this product. I don't understand. Is it necessary to buy an additional accessory to use this mic?

A: In order to use this mic, you will need a mixer, interface, or hardware recorder with an XLR mic input, and the ability to provide 48v phantom power. As well, you would need an XLR mic cable to connect it to either of those sources, a mic stand to attach it to, and a pop filter if recording vocals.

Q: 10. I hear a very loud, persistent, high-pitched ring when I record with my laptop. Is there a way to fix that? Also, my table stand does not fit the shock mount :/

A: As for the the shock mount, please double check that any smaller thread adapter inside the thread area of mount has been removed. This often can be achieved with a penny or nickel. Regarding the high pitched ring, there could be many reasons for noise issues, I do recommend calling in to our team of specialists for assistance.
