The Tiffen 5 x 5" 81 Light Balancing Filter helps to decrease the color temperature by 100K in order to warm the image slightly in order to match the color quality of illumination. When using an 81 filter, you will be able to attain 3200K balance when the prevailing light source is 3300K. The warming effect of this filter requires a 0.3-stop increase in exposure for normal results.

This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. It measures 5 x 5" / 127 x 127mm.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. can i use this filter with my 24mm sony gm lens(67mm) and nd filter without vignette?

A: It is not a thin or slim filter so it would most likely vignette the image on a 24mm lens. I would recommend using a 67 to 77 step up ring and the 77mm version of the filter. Please take a look at the following links: https://bhpho.to/3aChEVP and https://bhpho.to/3azJ0vP

Q: 2. What's the zoom ring size for rf 15-35 and rf 70-200?

A: Unfortunately, The new Canon RF lens models have not yet been tested by Tilta. Tilta provides the following ruler to help you measure your lenses for their Seamless rings. https://bit.ly/3oUrrgH

Q: 3. Any experiences with the Sigma 18-35 and Sigma 50-100? Which size would be best?

A: The Sigma 18-35mm Art lens has a 78mm diameter, you would need BH #TITAFGR788 instead. While the 50-100mm has a 93.5mm diameter and you would need a universal gear like BH #WILU for that one. https://bhpho.to/3kOCoMI https://bhpho.to/309Ib7v

Q: 4. Will this work with the new Tamron 35-150 f2/f2.8 E mount?

A: The Tilta Seamless Focus Gear Ring (81 to 83mm) would not fit on the Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 Di III VXD Lens (Sony E) as it has a diameter of around 89mm. It would be recommended to measure the size of the control ring that you would like to mount the gear ring on in order to get the best fit.

Q: 5. Will this work for the Sony 85 mm 1.8 E mount?

A: It will not. That lens has a 78mm diameter. You would need this one instead: https://bhpho.to/2Psl1Y7

Q: 6. Will 680nm to 800nm work well on a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera? I used a 750nm IR cut and it still produced a very red image. Possibly thinking the BMPCC is more sensitive to light on the lower end (680nm) so was thinking about checking this filter out. Any info?

A: It would seem no one else has tried this idea. It sounds as though it might work. Try it and let us know what happens.

Q: 7. will this lens fit on a Nikon 500mm PF lens?

A: If you are referring to the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/5.6E PF ED VR Lens, then yes, the Tiffen 95mm Coarse Thread UV Haze 1 Filter should be compatible for use on the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/5.6E PF ED VR Lens.

Q: 8. Does this fit the Canon EF 24-70mm F/2.8L II?

A: No, the SmallRig Seamless Focus Gear Ring (81 to 83mm) is too small to fit around the focus ring of the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM Lens, which according to our specs is 88,5mm ins diameter. You may be able to make the SmallRig Seamless Focus Gear Ring (81 to 83mm) work by stretching it out, but I recommend using a more size appropriate gear ring instead.

Q: 9. Which size will fit the Canon 24-70 f/2.8 mark II focus ring?

A: Since the outer diameter of the Canon 24-70 f/2.8 mark II lens' focus ring is 82mm, the 81 to 83mm would be the best fit.

Q: 10. Do these work with the DJI Focus Motor and it's teeth? I have tried the Neewer and Smallrig versions and nothing has worked.

A: No, the Tilta Seamless Focus Gear Ring seamless rings are not compatible with the DJI Focus motors. seamless rings may not have long enough teeth for the motor to grip. We recommend using the following gears. DJI Ronin-S Focus Gear Strips (2-Pack) BH #DJGEARP19 • MFR #CP.RN.00000026.01

I shoot commercials and documentaries. Great sound and short enough to mount on camera if needed for hand held shooting in documentary style filming; I can use wide angle lens w/o seeing my mic in shot. The clarity of peoples voices are great. Things not so great... although a definite superior field mic, other sound guys don't know this mic and are looking for another old standard.

Purchased this to use with my Panasonic Lumix S PRO 16-35mm f/4 and a SmallRig Mini Follow Focus 3010B.

It was a tad snug going over the front of the lens, but fits the focus ring perfectly. Can't beat this for the price!

I use it mainly for feature films, mounted on a boompole. Very warm and clear sound. My number one choice in controlled environments.

If you're looking for Best Bang for the Buck Check out Rode microphones. If you're looking for Cost no object Check out the Schoeps. If you want lush sound, a reliable mic, with a name you've grown to love: Neumann. This is the Hollywood sound (when Hollywood sounds good!)If the price is too high, check out the used market, you might save a grand. Anything else, hey if it's a great deal on a used or demoed mic then sure there are other brands I'd be excited about. DPA is one. Audio Technica & AKG will work. I'm curious about Beyer. Sanken I hear is amazing. However, as I said in the beginning: Rode/budget, Neumann/heck yeah! & Schoeps/I'm in Heaven.

These rings are awesome. No clunky seam attachment for your focus wheel to get caught on and no orienting the lens focus range when changing lenses. They're perfectly seamless and I have one on each lens and just leave it on. Plus they'll lever loosen or pop off.

I seen some reviews about the gear slipping, I only can say you must have the wrong size. I found them to work great and you can also cut them in half and have 2 for the price of one. I leave them wide though because I think they look better and they are only two bucks!

This is a fantastic shotgun mic! It is incredibly quiet and sensitive, and can pick up sounds brilliantly from a distance. It is also a great all around mic because it has an extended low end (compared to other shotgun mics), which makes it great for capturing all types of foley sounds as well!

If you need a focus gear ring for an E-Mount Sigma 24-70mm Art lens, look no further. This is the actual one that fits, not the 88-90mm ring that Tilta suggests. Their sizing chart is WAY off. Hopefully this saves someone from their lies.

Thanks Tilta for making a product that my lens manufacturer could care less about. I own a Tamron 150-600mm lens. When my lens rubbers stretched & wore out I went to the Tamrom website to buy more. Much to my surprise Tamron could care less about providing replacements. Thanks to Tilta Seamless Gear Rings! They work perfectly & are a lot tougher than my original Tamron ones. 81-83MM were perfect for my 150-600mm Tamron.

This is my everything mic right now, seeing as how I am still in college. However, I have access to every who's who of shotgun mics (sennheiser, schoeps, ect). While there are many great mics I have heard, I have to say I have not found one time I was wishing I had a better mic. If you are looking for a good mic that can be used in a variety of situations this is it. It has a full frequency response, so you can use it for foley and adr as well as a decently wide pick-up pattern allowing for one mic to be used on two people without excessive background noise.
