Q: 1. Trying to use MX-LMount L-Series Battery Sled with two L-Series batteries connected, but when I power it on, all tracks on the MixPre-10 II start blinking/flashing red (on the ring LED around each track fader). I've tried using the battery sled with a pair of genuine Sony NP-F970 batteries, and also with a pair of genuine Sony NP-F570 batteries, and all of them are having the same problem. I have already switched the battery type to L-Mount in the MixPre-10 II's power menu. Batteries are fully charged. No other batteries/power sources are connected. Any idea what could be causing this?

A: I would suggest calling Sound Devices technical support.

Q: 2. does the Mix Pre ii it's possible record to a USB C flash drive?

A: According to Sound Devices approved media list; it is compatible with USB-C flash drives. https://www.sounddevices.com/mixpre-series-approved-media-list/

Q: 3. Can you fly with these bags?

A: Yes, you can certainly fly with these bags.

Q: 4. My 744t charges it L-series battery whenever its plugged into power from the hirose input. My question: Does the MixPre 10T charge the L-series batteries while being powered by the hirose cable?

A: No, the MixPre-10T does not have the ability to charge L-series batteries when the recorder is powered using the Hirose cable.

Q: 5. are you sure that the 2 x TA3 3-Pin Female Balanced Line Output are Female and not Male which is more logic?

A: They are male. Each port has 3 pins (not holes).

Q: 6. Can I connect a black lion word clock when using this as a recording interface?

A: Yes, the Sound Devices MixPre-10 II Multitrack Field Recorder can be connected to a Black Lion Word Clock. As per Sound Devices, just set your BNC input and/or output to WC.

Q: 7. Is it best practice to turn off phantom power before turning off the device in beginner mode? Thank you for your time.

A: You do not have to turn off the phantom power before turning on the MixPre-10 II. It is advisable that you do not have the phantom power turned on when only using dynamic mics, or battery powered mics, as it will consume more battery power from the recorder unnecessarily.

Q: 8. Do both batteries need to be mounted at the same time? The mixpre does not offer an option for a 7.4 watt power source-only the 14. Can I power with one and select that output? Or is it recommended to utilize both? If I can power with one battery at a time, what power setting do you recommend selecting?

A: I am not seeing an option for both batteries to be used at the same time.

Q: 9. am I crazy or does this device shut off all mic inputs other than 1-4 in ambisonic mode? this would mean while using the ambeo i cannot plug in any other microphones?

A: That is correct, only channels 1-4 can be operated for ambisonic recording .

Q: 10. What bitdepth/sample rate can it record to SD if it's being used as an audio interface, say for livestreaming?

A: The MixPre-10 II can record at 32-bit float when connected to the computer as an interface. However, the sample rate depends on the capability of the computer and/or the software hosting the interface.

I use it on the base of a background light or as a counterweight for a mono light on a c stand. It’s compact and easy to use in multiple ways. Glad I got it an will probably get another.

These are not cheap, but I love them so much. I have a whole bunch of them in various sizes and never do a location shoot without them. I use them frequently for keeping my light stands secure, and for counterweights for my boom. Every light stand that goes down during a wedding gets one of these so a drunk patron doesn't knock into something and cause an accident. The rubberized material in between the two sections helps it stick to anything very well.

Solid construction. Boa design allows the weight to be placed where needed and insures that it will stay put. Clearly superior to saddlebag designs. Premium product but well worth the price for location work.

Other weight bags may offer a cheaper price or heavier weight options, but overall I love the Matthews Boa weight bags as they are pre-filled with sand, sealed shut, and give me a lot of flexibility with their design. I can use them to offset a boom arm, wrap around tripod or light stand bases, or hang midway on a stand handle to offset the weight of something.

I love these boa bags. They are much heavier than youd expect for the size. They also have some grippy material on the middle section so they hang well. I will definitely buy more!

I use this as a tripod weight. Wraps under the head of the tripod, perfect for counterbalancing a camera slider or to limit camera shake during time lapse.

Needed some medium portable lightstand weights and B&H did the job again. Half the cost of local photog supply stores and same week delivery

These cost more - but the flexibility of being able to hang them on a small hook or over a mic stand is worth it.

I have the 10lb. sand bag and use it to hold down my light stand for security purposes when using my big beauty dish. It's SO easy and convenient to just drape it over a bar to hold the stand down and it secures it very well. I know I can walk away and not have to worry about someone knocking it over. Does its job good!
