Part of the ULX-D wireless series, the Shure ULXD4D houses 2 independent digital receivers in a rugged, single-rack unit with an internal power supply. Two Ethernet ports support Dante digital audio, while RF cascade ports allow for antenna signal distribution to another receiver unit. Audio summing enables the receiver to function as a 2-channel mixer.

The ULX-D Series simplifies the set up and management of large numbers of wireless systems. It is ideal for professional sound reinforcement applications in large live venues and houses of worship as well as A/V installations in conference, educational, and corporate facilities. Compatible with a wide selection of Shure transmitters and mic capsules, it delivers pristine 24-bit/48 kHz digital audio, capturing every detail with clarity, accurate low end, and crisp transient response.

The ULX-D operates in the UHF band, utilizing Digital Predictive Switching Diversity to protect the transmission from interference, delivering rock-solid RF signal stability without audio artifacts. In Standard mode you can run up to 17 channels per 6 MHz TV channel, at a range up to 330'. Alternatively, the High-Density mode lets you run up to 47 channels per 6 MHz TV channel, at a maximum range of 98'. The system offers AES-256 encryption for security.

Each receiver module has its own audio and RF meters, 60 dB of gain control, and XLR output. A large LCD screen and intuitive controls let you quickly make adjustments, even in low-light situations. Additional features include automatic frequency scanning, IR sync, gain optimization to match any input source, and internal limiting to prevent clipping.

The Ethernet ports also allow multiple receivers to be easily networked together for simplified frequency coordination and deployment via Shure's Wireless Workbench software. In addition, the Channels Mobile App enables you to control the system remotely from an iOS device.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. is there a difference between buying this and two single channel digital wireless receivers ?. apart from saving some money

A: There is no difference apart from saving money and space.

Q: 2. Does this bodypack come with the mic capsule or just the bodypack? Also, does BH sell a replacement mic capsule for this bodypack? We have a broken capsule that we will need to replace.

A: The Shure QLXD1 Digital Wireless Bodypack Transmitter (BH #SHQLXD1G50) does not include a microphone element with purchase. There is a vast selection of compatible microphones that can be used with the QLXD1 for various applications. The Shure WL185 Cardioid Lavalier Microphone with TA4F Connector (BH #SHWL185) is a common option: https://bhpho.to/3NQusKe. The following link filters other potential replacement mic elements to use with this transmitter: https://bhpho.to/3JYBMRn. Please reach out to our Pro Audio team via chat, email, or phone for further assistance identifying a microphone replacement specific to your use.

Q: 3. What type of Digital Wireless Receiver compatible with Shure GLXD2/SM58 Digital Wireless Handheld Microphone Transmitter with SM58 Capsule (2.4 GHz)?

A: This handheld mic transmitter pairs with the Shure GLXD4 Digital Wireless Receiver (2.4 GHz), BH #SHGLXD4Z2 or the rack mountable Shure GLXD4R Advanced Digital Wireless Receiver (2.4 GHz), BH #SHGLXD4RZ2.

Q: 4. what are the measurement of the unit?

A: Gross Weight = 0.91 lb Height = 3.5 in Length = 12.75 in (w/ antenna) Width = 4.75 in

Q: 5. how many mics can each channel have? or is it 1 mic per channel?

A: The Shure ULXD4D Dual-Channel Digital Wireless Receiver (G50: 470 to 534 MHz) has two separate channels which can each be used with a separate transmitter/microphone. Two transmitters/microphones can be used simultaneously with the ULXD4D Receiver.

Q: 6. Does the Shure QLXD14/83 receiver connect to multiple transmitters?

A: The Shure QLXD14/83 Digital Wireless Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone System (J50A: 572 to 608 + 614 to 616 MHz) is a single channel receiver and will connect to one transmitter at a time.

Q: 7. How many watts does the Shure ULXD4D pull down?

A: That unit does 9 watts of power consumption.

Q: 8. is the body of mic plastic or metal ?

A: Shure uses a Metal body casing for all of its QLXD receivers and transmitters.

Q: 9. How many ULXD4D receivers that you can link without the D.A

A: you can only connect two systems without Distribution

Q: 10. I was told by another dealer that i cannot use a ULXD2 transmitter with a QLXD4 receiver, does anyone know if this is really true. cause under compatible TX's it says you can?

A: Yes, but both devices must have the same operating frequency band, such as G50. Group and Channel settings within the frequency band are the same for ULX-D and QLX-D. The Group and Channel number for each device have to be set manually, as the InfraRed sync will not work.

We have this mic in addition to a couple of Shure GLXDs with Beta 58 mics. We like those mics, but this one really blows them out of the water!
